We shop in Carbonear at least once a month and have always wanted to visit the Rorke Stores Museum. The student summer staff were well informed and very good at answering questions. A great insite to early Carbonear days!

A pleasant & unassuming building, but inside is great history, displays, and stories about the region’s founding & rise. Worth the 45 minute stop

We called in on a wet Sunday afternoon. The building itself is amazing and the exhibits are well laid out with plenty of information about the founding and development of Carbonear and the fishing industry. We were given a guided tour by a delightful young lady who was well informed and helped bring it all to life. Entrance fee was only $5 with concessions for seniors. This included a pass for 2 other local museums.

Really enjoyed the Rorke Stores Museum. How great to be standing in the building that was the launching point for the whole enterprise. Could have spent more time there but we had a full day planned. The museum gives a good look at the many aspects of being a fish merchant, by looking at the business side, the sailing side and life down at the rooms in Labrador. Great to see part of the space made available for community use.
Complete the visit by going across the street to the old stone store, now the Stone Jug.

Interestingly shaped building with lots of history. Worth it just to view the inside of the building itself and the way it was constructed so many years ago. Lots to see for free, but please donate on the way in.
