Fox Island Trail

About
A 5.5 km hike. It is rated as being easy-moderate in difficult. The trail is a loop that displays the beautiful coastal scenery, views of the surrounding communities and local wildlife. The last portion of the Trail takes you through the fishing village of Champney’s West and along back trail for more spectacular coastal scenery. By choosing the alternate route off Trail and through the community you will increase the difficulty. The Trail goes past the fishing stages and wharf of Champney's West. These images have been included in provincial commercials and advertisements. You may even find an opportunity to chat to a local resident.

Fairly easy trail with good ocean views. Skerwink's cliffs were more interesting.. Signage in village was unclear and took wrong turn

We were really happy to see whales and lots of seabirds on our hike. This was an easy hike on a well marked trail.

Trail can be accessed at a couple different spots, use google maps for assistance.
Very scenic, easy to moderate hike, couple rocky beaches along the way. Views are spectacular. Kids loved exploring around coastline

This is a moderately easy hike that takes you through Champney's West, a lovely little outport community, and along the cliffs of Trinity Bay.

Easier than the Skerwink trail which is close by. But very scenic and part of the trail passes through the quaint little village of Champneys West where you can visit the Aquarium. East to find and access. Allow 2 to 3 hours to complete and a little more if you want to climb to the lookout on Fox Island.

This is a good moderate hike. It's about 3 miles and has lots of great vistas. There's a bit of up and down but it's certainly attainable by someone in very average shape and the exertion is well rewarded by the interesting fauna and scenery. Have a beer at Port Rextron brew after to reward yourself.

We went on this hike hoping to stretch our legs a bit. We got just that! This is a 5.3 km fairly easy hike through the woods and around the bay. If you want to make it a little more challenging and a little longer, hike to the top of a hill that has a Canadian flag at the top. This is toward the middle to end of the hike. There are ropes to help you up and down the rock. After your hike, head straight to Port Rexton Brewing. Great beer, nice food truck (grilled cheese sandwiches), nice people.

I am not sure why the Skerwink trail gets so much publicity when this trail just up the road is just as accessible and scenic. We enjoyed this trail very much !

Great hike, beautiful scenery, better than Skirwink & you can look over at Skirwink. Did both hikes in one day.
