Finally had a chance to hike Fox Island Trail, part of the Hike Discovery Trail Network on the Bonavista Peninsula. It’s about 5 km in length moderate in difficulty. Parking easily found just as you enter Champney’s West. We loved the coastal hike through Tuckamores...More

Fox Island Trail a beautiful scenic trail, the sound of the water on the lovely beaches, relaxing on the Hiscock bench to just enjoy the view then to walk through Champney’s West. Certainly recommend this trail!

Not as challenging as The Sherwink but still physical enough to work up a sweat. The views are beautiful as you meandering you way through various coves, rolling meadows, and a small community. Very picturesque Newfoundland.

The trail is great. we were blessed with a cool calm day (12 degrees) with a bit of cloud cover. Perfect! The views are wonderful and the walk itself very pleasant. It is possible to walk over to Fox Island (I suppose) but we just...More

This trail is less scenic than others in the immediate area. However, for an inexperienced hiker, or group it is very accessible and easy. We have only hiked this trail once, but it is a nice change. We were visiting family in the area for...More

We actually had a nicer walk than the Skerwink Trail hike yesterday. The differences being a much quieter trail with fewer people, and a more open view. There are places you can get down to the water and beach. There are views of the verdant...More

If you're in the Trinity/Port Rexton area it is well worth your time to do Fox Island Trail. In total it is about 5.3 km with no serious incline. The entire trail gives beautiful ocean views (on clear days of course), with multiple beaches to...More

We enjoyed this more than Skerwink, to be honest. We had a glorious day and the ability to get down to sea level when you get to the halfway point makes this hike very memorable. Nothing beats wandering down to the ocean with nothing but...More

While technically not an island, as it is conveniently connected to Champney's West via an isthmus, Fox Island is yet another not-to-miss spot in this beautiful area. Once across an Isthmus, it is an almost vertical climb to the top of the island. Ropes that...More
