While in Trinity we took in two shows at this Theatre. They both were excellent. One was a dinner theatre production and the meal was delicious. The staff was very efficient at serving us. Both events were superb! This was my first trip to Trinity but it won't be my last. Loved everything about this theatre. Kudos to the staff that made our visit, a most enjoyable one.

Disappointed that the pageant was cancelled as several of the actors have Covid….however, Donna Butt more than made up for our disappointment by her amazing performance in “Terese’s Creed”! She is awesome and did the show even though it was not scheduled for this evening. She spent about 15 minutes with us after the performance and it’s clear that she is the heart and soul behind this theatre! Kudos, Donna!

Excellent and talented actors! Despite the fact I don’t understand the Newfie jokes but the expression of the comedian were funny. The music is fantastic - shenanigans, will see it again.

Wonderful nostalgic time. Came with my Husband and two boys 21 and 18 from Calgary. I am the only Newfoundlander in the family. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Such an enjoyable experience. I was hesitant about going because of the fog. But it was so worth it. Donna Butt did a one-woman show and was she ever fabulous. 90 minutes of just her telling stories and she had you hanging in every word. Amazing talent!

We were in the beautiful little town of Trinity for 4 days in June/22. We took in the Trinity Pageant as well as the Shenanigans show. Both were excellent and so well done. The weather in Newfoundland can change within minutes and it was drizzling at 1.30pm so we were sure the pageant would be cancelled for 2pm but lo and behold the sun came out just in time! We were amazed by the performers as both actors and singers were so very talented. The 'Hiram 'skit was priceless and the actor that perfomed that skit as well as many others stole the show!!

The Rising tide theatre is located in Trinity in a great building by the water
Great seating- Covid restrictions followed
We saw West Moon production. Although we appreciate it is a folklore story- it was told from the premise of deceased people in a graveyard. It was actually morbid and lacked the entertainment Newfoundland people pride themselves on. Truly wish we had the chance to attend a show with more humor and entertainment.

We attended two recent productions by the Rising Tide Theatre and really enjoyed both. The first was the Trinity Pageant. Vignettes inspired by the history of Trinity were performed at various locations in the village and the audience was led from one to the next. They ranged from broad slapstick humour to a moving retelling of the loss of 24 men and boys in a sealing tragedy. The acting was generally well done and the singing was excellent. The second production was a variety show called Shenanigans, Newfoundland songs and humour in a variety format performed by many of the actors from the pageant.

The Rising Tide Theater website
mentions that the performances now stretch past the summer months, but I can’t see anything on their calendar.
I’d suggest you contact them directly at

Hi, what weekend is not too busy for you for Sat show?

I’m not certain that I know exactly what you are asking,
but I would suggest that you phone the box office regarding availability of tickets.
Last week (July 6th) there were still a few dozen seats available - but I’m sure it will be sold out as the tourist/summer season gets rolling.

We are booking in New Bonaventure (Hodder House) July 17-19th and were wondering about getting tickets to the dinner theatre on July 18th. How do you purchase tickets in advance or do you just book on the date? How far is the drive from New Bonaventure to the Theatre site? Also, do you need tickets to the outdoor shows performed each day and if yes, how do you go about getting those?
Thanks,
David H

Hi Shena, sorry for the late reply on this. Not sure if you've found your answer yet, but if you'd like to book tickets, you can just give our box office a call either locally 709-464-3232 or toll free 1-888-464-3377. They're open 9:30am to 8:00pm every day. Booking in advance is recommended to reserve your seats as the dinner theatre can fill up. The drive to the theatre site from New Bonaventure is approximately 20-25 minutes. As for our outdoor show, the Pageant, it's not performed every day, just on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2pm. You do need tickets although it's not necessary to book in advance - due to the outdoor nature of the show, we don't have to worry about capacity.
