Great view and easy
Aug. 2020
An uphill hike but view of the whole town of Trinity is amazing. You can go higher up if wants more view of the ocean and area. Trail starts right past the bank. Only short hike to get the view. We only hiked up to the platform and no need to go further up. Enjoyed a whole half hour just relaxing on the platform!

Very short trail at the beginning of the Skerwink Trail, easy to do, great views. Would recommend if you just want a quick pretty walk to complete.

Great hike with a great view

There are two options on this trail - a hard branch and an easy branch, Both have great views and great place to sit and eat a lunch or snack as you look at Trinity. Then go visit the town or take a drive to the lighthouse across the water!!

Cute short trail
Jul. 2019
Cute short trail for anyone active who wants to spend a little time outside. Great views of Trinity. We took a walk through town after our hike for an ice cream. Picked a few wild berries just off the path. Old cemetery at the beginning was also interesting. I would rate this trail as easy.

We walked this trail before supper, an relatively easy walk although steep at the top. Views over trinity and surrounding area are breathtaking and gives you a much better perspective on where the village lies in relation to the surrounding coves

Worth the climb
Jul. 2019 • Family
We climbed the Gun Hill trail with our 12-year-old grandson. It was spectacular! Easy trail (we are both in our late 60's) that took about 25 minutes, including many stops for photos. Our grandson loved it. The view from the top was awesome. Well worth the climb.

A wonderful hike on good trails with several places one can stop, rest and enjoy the vistas and panoramic views. Wear good footwear and watch your step in places.

A great little hike with the most amazing views - be sure to stop down at the Mercantile when you are done for coffee. A bit steep to start and some slippery areas but nothing too crazy and worth the view at the top!

Gun Hill, formerly known as Ryder’s Hill is located at the base of Trinity.

This trail should take about 30-45 minutes depending on how long you want to enjoy the view. There are two loops that you can take – the Lower Trail (a loop) can be started behind the Rising Tide Theatre and as soon as we started, we felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere. Parts of the trail were completely inland while other parts hugged Trinity Harbour.

Then we joined up with the upper trail loop, tough when heading all the way to the top of Gun Hill, but the rest of it was fairly easy. The views were fantastic - 360 degree view of the entire area and offered a great vantage point for picture taking.
Halfway up the trail. We found the cannons that once protected Trinity from attacks during the wars between the French and the English.

A photo of Trinity taken in 1910 is on display and we spent some time comparing the then and now. We enjoyed the panoramic view of the cliffs of Skerwink, Fort Point Lighthouse, Town of Trinity and Trinity Harbour. This was also a great spot to watch the sunrise because the entire trail provides an unobstructed view towards the East.

We completed the loop by exiting near the bank – on the way down, we passed the Catholic graveyard, stopping to scan some of the gravestones.

Walked the gun hill trail on a beautiful day in Trinity. You could see clear out into the bay and all the surrounding area. Beautiful views.
