We only had an afternoon on Baddeck and after walking the downtown area, we took the very short, free ferry ride to Kidston Island. There was a nice beach with lifeguards along with a bathroom and changing rooms. We swam some and before heading back,...More

This is a very attractive red and white lighthouse, built in 1912, and automated in 1960. The original lighthouse was constructed back in 1875, and they stood side by side for a few years. Good to see the ‘younger’ one still working efficiently with an...More

I only have one photo of this lighthouse from the Bell museum because I ran out of power on my phone. Rats! Can only say it's a typical lighthouse but so picturesque!!

This red and white lighthouse provides plenty of photographic opportunities. You can take views from the mainland, from the harbour and also close up on Kidson Island.

This is an easily photographable lighthouse on the lake; we got photos with the sun going down, great ones with winds, and lots of angles. Pretty little lighthouse!

We were in Baddeck for a few days before learning that Kidston Island with its great lighthouse is where locals go swimming. Hop on the little ferry at Kidston Landing and head on over. This island is also great for birding. I saw woodpeckers, warblers,...More

I had fun looking to take pictures of the Kidston Island Lighthouse, in different places, to see this lighthouse from different perspectives. The first time I saw it, was from a window from the Alexander Graham Bell Historic Site. I immediately was attracted to it....More

I am not sure if pets are allowed on the ferry. I tried looking on the internet but cannot find anything regarding the ferry, it's schedule nor its services. But I would think that pets would not be a problem.
