A great trip out with Keltic from Ingonish. We knew there was no guarantee of seeing whales, but were enjoying the trip, seeing sea birds and visiting lovely coves that you can’t get to by land.
Kieron (not sure of that’s the right spelling!) was in contact with other local operators to check of there had been any sightings.
We went a bit further out to sea and then saw about 4 fins in the water. As we got closer, we saw there were more whales including calves, plus a second pod feeding further into the bay.
A fantastic experience - would thoroughly recommend.

Nice scenic tour but no chance of seeing whales when you only go out into the ocean about a mile. I’ve been on other tours and did see whales but we went out about 10 miles. When I booked I asked how often they were sighting whales and was told every time accept once. When we arrived we were warned that we may not see any because there were sharks spotted in the area. That would have been nice to know before we travelled five and a half hours and paid almost $500 for eight people.
Don’t waste your time or money.

Went to see whales but didn’t see any whales. Was good ride around shore in the Atlantic Ocean. However, rides without whale watching can be booked for cheaper.

Waste of money and the ride had NO WHALE OR DOLPHINS! Unorganized service. Tiny boats which doesn’t feel safe. It seemed like a rookie ride where you go searching for a whale first time and guess where it is. Moreover, the main coordinator lady “Tracy” is ONLY after the money. Rather than explaining the tour and sharing more details, she was rushing us to make the payment right away. Very desperate to sell a seat which indicates they don’t have demand at all. Never going back there and will NOT recommend this place at all. Note - This place has bad reviews on Google as well, they know it and they have blocked Google Reviews now. Stay away from this place and try out other better options nearby tor whale watching.

We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure on the Zodiac boat. We had seen ocean animals before, but not as close as these! It was thrilling to actually hear the whales breathing! It also gave us a different perspective of the coastal scenery. Our captain,Killian, was enthusiastic & knowledgeable!

We planned on showing up for the 9:30 tour on our last day of travel. We arrived at the shack around 9:10/9:15 and no one was there working. There was a small sign that simply said "next tour at 1:30". After waiting until 9:30 with a couple other tourists, I called the number on their sign and no one answered.
We rearranged our schedule for the day and decided to come back for 1:30. The woman working the booth came out at 1:15 and after speaking with her we found out that not only would the tour be altered but there would be no room for us.
Highly suggest calling far ahead before scheduling your day around them.

Yes, we saw a Minke whale or three. But the true pleasure was being out on the water in safe hands on a beautiful day! The staff was wonderful! Very accommodating, and the Captain was a store of knowledge! He was a 7th+ generation local with passion for his land (and water!). We were scheduled for a different company that was highly rated, but their staff dropped the ball too many times, and they canceled the trip the day before. We were lucky to stumble into Keltic Express. For what it is worth, I have a Captian's License myself (Florida) - so I know a quality outfit! You and your loved ones are safe here! The boats are clean, well maintained and in constant radio contact with other vessels.

We were booked on the 1:30 trip on August 1st. Really nice people and we had a fantastic trip. We got lucky and saw Dolphins, Seals and a Minke Whale. We were a little delayed in getting out, but the staff more than made up for it. It was a beautiful day and an awesome experience. Thank you so much!

Super nice people and a great ride although the weather wasn’t the best. We were wearing the suits, so it wasn’t that wet.
Took us a while but then we got lucky and saw a fin whale! So impressive. We waited for it to re-emerge and there seemed to be no time pressure. Jumping Tuna and some seals sweetened the way back after 2+ hours.
Thanks for making our day!

We went out on the 11:30 trip. Had to wait for the captain to come in from a previous tour, was a bit late but no big deal. We didn’t see any whales but it’s a big ocean and knew that it would be a long shot. Whales aren’t sitting around waiting for us to show up. The trip showcased incredible views and marine life by a knowledgeable captain. It was worth the money spent.
The zodiac was a great experience and a lot of fun. Excellent time was had by everyone on the boat and we all marvelled at how stunning the surroundings were.

We Are only spending 2 nights and one full day in
Ingonish last weekend of July. Do you recommend that we make reservations now, ahead of time, or is it no problem to catch a tour when we get there?
What is the best time of day to watch whales?
