We booked the experience for eight of us. The trip started with some waiting outside the office (hut). There is no good waiting area but no comlaints there. The guy was very talkative and helpful. The actual trip was on a rescue boat seating around 12 people I guess. The boat was were quick in its manoeuvre. Deep in the ocean we were luck to sight a majestic whale. What a marvel of nature - must be around 50 feet in length. Looked like a black mountain coming out of the ocean! The guide was knowledgeable and talkative except when he was busy with his lunch during the tour! In general, a great experiece and highly recommended tour inspite of big proce tag!

In a Zodiac out into the Atlantic Ocean, it helps to,have nice weather. We did and had an excellent time. Saw an Eagle, some seals and best of all several pods of dolphins (more than 100 total) that surfed our bow wave and swam near the boat. The guide was lovely and clearly enjoyed his work. Didn't see any whales but the experience was worth it regardless.

The zodiac whale tour was an incredible adventure. While we did not see any whales, we did see seals, an eagle and wound up in the middle of a pod of at least 100 dolphins. Our captain was friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining and he thoroughly enjoyed his job. He went out of his way to give us a thrilling 2 hour adventure. This tour did not disappoint. The staff was so accommodating, from the lady we spoke with when we called to book the tour, to the young man who sold us our tickets and discussed whether we should opt for the life jacket or the full suit to keep us from getting wet, to the captain who went the extra mile to give us a memorable experience. This is a must do if you plan on a visit to Ingonish.

We booked the day before and when we arrived were informed that because of high winds it was unlikely we would be able to go out far enough to spot any whales. We were given the choice of a refund, or to continue with a discount. We really appreciated how upfront they were about the conditions and decided to continue with the tour anyway. The water was choppy, which the kids absolutely loved, honestly they may have never laughed so hard. We did see seals and had a great tour of the bay. The staff was friendly as well. Even though we couldn't see the whales that day, we had a great time and would recommend Keltic Express.

Great value for hour and a half and saw deals at play, lots of cool birds and beautiful vistas. Ride on zodiac also lots of fun. Brandon who greeted us informative and friendly and only miss today was no whales but not for lack of trying. Gotta love cape Breton for its local mountains, water and beer!!!

The zodiac ride was amazing and picturesque and worth the money on its own! We saw gannet, seals, and minke whales, too!
The guide was very knowledgeable about the sea, and super friendly as well!

Saw many whales, one no more than 50 feet away, lots of seals, got close up to cliffs with nesting sea birds. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, all in all a perfect afternoon.

The captain was friendly but we did not see any whales on the tour. It was a little pricey at 49 CAD a person. Disappointing.

Kinnon was friendly, accommodating and very determined to find whales! We saw seals, puffins, eagles, a tuna, and a humpback! It is a zodiac so be prepared and dress warm, even on a sunny day.

What a wonderful experience! I saw minke whales, grey and harbor seals, and puffins and other sea birds.Saw lobstermen working their traps and a lot of beautiful seashore. you are close to the water and to the whales. The pilot of the raft was in touch with the shore and at the end of the time,he heard there were whales about half a mile away and he took us to see them and stayed until everyone had seen them and took all the pictures they wanted. Hearing whales blowing and seeing them swim around the raft, just wow.

We Are only spending 2 nights and one full day in
Ingonish last weekend of July. Do you recommend that we make reservations now, ahead of time, or is it no problem to catch a tour when we get there?
What is the best time of day to watch whales?
