The lighthouse is now disused but still a bit of an icon, located on the headland at the entrance to the bay. There are cliffs adjacent with a dramatic coastline to the north. Also the start of the Lighthouse Trail which would be a pleasant walk if you are so inclined.

The lighthouse at Louisbourg is an unsung hero. Dramatic scenery and spectacular position can’t wait to visit when it’s all renovated as I read it will be soon!!

To get to the lighthouse is a somewhat nerve-wracking narrow, winding road that turns into a narrow, winding dirt road. But the views of the town of Louisbourg and the ocean are beautiful. I'm told you can see the Fortress of Louisbourg as well from the light, but we went while it was raining so we couldn't see very far. But the ocean views and the waves crashing on the rocks were pretty.

The lighthouse is a little run down and there's nothing there but a look-off, the lighthouse, and the views. Still worth a drive to see it though!

Loved seeing the lighthouse, as well as taking in the incredible rugged coastline. It was foggy so the full experience was missed but would have been so sad not to see it at all!!

Nice lighthouse, close to the town / Fortress of Louisbourg. A historical lighthouse. Nice view of the ocean- I spotted some seals there. Another visitor said he spotted some whales as well so keep your eyes open!
Unfortunately at the time of my visit the trail was closed due to the damaged caused by the hurricane a few months earlier.

We enjoyed climbing the trail and wandering around the rocks. So barren and wind-swept, but very scenic.

The road to the lighthouse is very narrow and people go on it fairly quickly. The latest is an older lighthouse it’s like a typical lighthouse on a good day you can see the fortress across the bay.

By far the prettiest lighthouse we got to see up close in Nova Scotia. It’s the 4th built lighthouse on that site. Worth the drive in.

Go for the hike. There is a 1.5km hike next to the lighthouse that offers incredible views of the ocean and crashing surf. Hike is an easy one and ok for kids.

Worth going. Free. Picnic tables on site and restrooms just before on the road. Walk next to the sea is great also. Great add-on to Louisbourg forteress visit.
