I recently visited the Village Emporium in Chester After having breakfast at a wonderful Café next door called the Kiwi Cafe my daughter and I decided we wanted to get a few things so we popped into the store and we were pleasantly surprised to find the perfect summer hat, shirt and lots of other little fun items for our homes. We were also happy when we got to the cash to find that everything was very reasonably priced for a change and friendly service. I will definitely go back there next time I am in Chester!

Great place to find local treasures and trinkets. We visit here quite often when home in the area for a visit. Had busy weekend of yard sales and MayFest festivities.

This shop has many separate rooms of fine crafted gifts including woven clothing items, toys, historical books of the area, etc. All appear to be fine quality and reasonably priced. Very much worth a visit and the best shop we saw in Chester.

These small historic towns always blow me away with their quaintness and charm. This one is certainly no exception. Our GPS meandered us through town along the waterfront, which was lovely and in a round about manner we ended up in the historic centre of town. The Village Emporium and Going Coastal Fine Art were two of the lovely shops available to browse in.

Lovely little shop with quite a few rooms to roam through. There are lots of locally made crafts which is wonderful. Also crafts made outside of Nova Scotia that are nice. The shop only opens at noon on Sundays. I’m glad I waited...

After lunch across the street at The Foc'sle restaurant, we wandered into The Village Emporium.

A little leery that we were walking into a 'tourist trap' with exorbitant prices,we were pleasantly surprised at not only the prices, but the quality and variety of merchandise!

Bracelets made in their workshop, a lot of locally made or made in Nova Scotia products tempted us to stay as long as we could, before leaving with our purchases.

We will be back!

We spent time at the waterfront in Chester before heading back to the car. On the way back, we came across The Village Emporium and decided to stop in. It is a great shop and goes beyond the typical tourist store. It features the goods of local artisans and there were many displays to choose items from at a reasonable price. I bought a nice bag and a few toiletries. There is alot to see and I recommend this place for anyone who might be visiting the area.
