My husband and I just enjoyed a wonderful weekend in a Yurt in the Vineyard at Authentic Seacoast. We stay in Yurt #10 - we were the only yurt situated on a peninsula overlooking Mussel Cove. It was so quiet and romantic. You could walk right into the ocean from our yurt - and we did! If you stay in Yurt #10, you are provided with a complimentary golf cart to travel back and forth between the main building/distillery tasting room and parking lot. It’s a 5 minute drive through the vineyard. We “carted up” each morning to enjoy complimentary Full Stream coffee (also made by Authentic Seacoast). Our yurt had a beautiful deck over looking the water with a picnic table, propane bbq, two wooden deck chairs and a large wood-fired hot tub. Call ahead to ask them to heat it up for you. It takes 1.5 hrs for the water to warm. It was perfect for enjoying late nite star gazing and your early morning coffee. Inside the yurt was a super comfy queen bed, side tables, a small dining table with two chairs, dining utensils, a wood stove (that would have been lovely for a cooler visit) and a lounge chair. The yurt is solar powered which provided lights and two phone/iPad chargers (no electrical outlets). We also had our own private bunky just steps from the yurt which included a great hot shower, flush toilet and a kitchen sink area for cleaning up dishes. We were happy to relax at the property and bbq, but if you’re looking to eat out in Guysbourough, book a dinner at the lovely DeBarres Manor ahead of your stay. The only other spot to eat in town is a pizza parlour on the Main Street. Kendra, John and the owner Glynn made our vacation extra exceptional with an afternoon of great conversation and superb whiskey sampling at their main Distillery. Thank you again! It was a one of a kind vacation and we can’t wait to return.

We visited there in July and were so engaged by the stories from John about the facility and the brewing process. He had endless stories about the development of the first rate beer and spirits they sell. We are beer drinkers but the RUM, let me tell you it was good. Just nice to sit in the tasting room and take in all of the wonderful art pieces and decorations.

Hiding in Nova Scotia, is AEC successful and wonderful place: loved the quiet time in nature, overlooking the sea, walking in the vineyard and nesting in the yurt - very welcoming hosts, very confortable lodging and very good quality tastings - rhum, whisky , vodka - mix in maple syrup and coffee. Indulging. A must experience!

Stayed in Yurt #2 this weekend this is not an ocean from but the riverside area. Overall it is beautiful and we had lots of fun in the shoulder season. All of the yurts are near or in the Vinyard. All of the marketing material is filmed in yurt #10 unless your paying $300 a night it’ll be a bit different. Rules and fees are different online then once you get there so please call and ask questions first. Online it states a full breakfast is included. ( there is on food at this location )
Pros: the yurt is great can’t get any better. Warm cozy. Has basic kitchen items ie cutlery plates. They provide one bag of free wood every bag after is $7. We used 4 bags in early spring between the fireplace and hot tub. You are not allowed to bring your own. You do however need to bring your own paper and lighters Some yurts have power to charge your phone and have lamps. There is a BBQ to cook and a prep area in the building next to yurt 1-4. The price to use the hot tub is now included with the yurt rental. (Says differently on the website) there is a sauna by a small pond. There is an extra fee of $60 in the off season is only available during the day due to staffing. ( please be kind small family owned company) . We brought our own bikes and went around most of the trails, fun to see hops, bee boxes, ocean and other parts of vineyard. In the shoulder season no bike or kayak rentals but that is available in the sumner. Would be beautiful as the cove is calm. Would be able to kayak right from yurts 5-10. Take a tour of the distillery it’s beautiful even if you don’t like to drink. All yurts have good WIFI.

Cons:
Most of the cons are small
Need garbage can and mirror in bathroom. Also paper towel or hand towel. The bathroom next to Yurt 1-4 has full plumbing and beautiful shower. There is coin operated laundry. Bathroom facility next to 5-9 and the private one next to yurt 10 are composting toilets and solar power. The towels provided are thin good for summer but when it’s freezing getting out of hot tub be nice to have something larger and warmer. Most of the hot tubs are only 2 person. We fit fine though would be very snug for larger people. Be aware that there’s no food at the location and the website is not accurate. There is also a binder that comes in the yurt that has not been updated since summer 2021 and is also not accurate.

The good about the Yurts was that it was set on a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean.

The service people we dealt with were helpful to a point, but the fault was not theirs that they couldn’t help us. The fault lies with the owner.

We booked in yurt 5 for a hot tub, paid more for it. When I booked I said we wanted the hot tub when we arrived. We arrived and no hot tub, no water in it. They told us we could move to another yurt the next day but we opted to not move as it was going to rain the next day. There was no golf cart at the service building so we had to walk everywhere. The sauna wasn’t ready, the wifi never worked at our yurt. When we told the owner about all of this he accused me of lying. I told him to talk to his staff as we had reported the wifi a number of times. We were fielding offers on our house that weekend and needed the service. We had to pay extra for wood, for which we were given a few logs but no kindling or paper. We had to pay for ice, we had to clean our own dishes (during covid? For $200 a night?) you have to have ice as there is no power so to keep food fresh you have no option. Everything is extra but you have to read the fine print.
I will never be back.

Booked a sea-side Yurt as a surprise for my wife to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. First trip there but definitely won't be our last. Had an AMAZING time. The Yurts are beautiful, warm, cozy and well appointed, with interior solar lighting. (We chose the off-grid Yurt, but there are 4 that are full on-grid) Did not try the hot-tub but will next visit!! The firewood purchased on site was pre-split including kindling and fire starter and hardwood logs. The common buildings (washroom/shower/kitchen prep area) were lovely. Gorgeous cedar buildings with quality fixtures. The attention to details and quality of furnishings showed just how well thought this little gem is. The vineyard is young but maturing and hopefully they will have wine offerings in a couple of years. The tour of the distillery was simply awesome, informative, and fun. The amount of work at keeping authenticity and the attention to detail they put into this facility and their products was almost mind-boggling. Glynn and John were marvelous hosts on the Tour and the amount of dedication, hard work and pride they take in their craft was obvious and well founded. Edwina in the reception/tasting room was excellent, helpful and very friendly. The spirit tasting was great fun and while the 12y/o Rye Glynnevan was my favorite you simply must try the Sea Fever Spiced Rum! It was an amazing experience that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be returning!

We spent 2 nights in an Ocean View Yurt at Authentic Seacoast - stunning setting in the vineyards by the ocean. the yurt was spacious and the mattress was so comfortable!! the yurt also had a cozy wood stove for cooler evenings and screened in windows for fresh air and very well appointed. Our private deck, picnic table and weber BBQ overlooking the vineyards and ocean was perfect for relaxing and cooking and the property is huge - so many places to explore. can't wait to come back in the cooler months to try out the lake-side sauna!! BONUS - beer and spirits tastings and fresh coffee at the Distillery/brewery tasting lounge or patio. what a great getaway from the real world!

Stopped in for a tasting. My favourite was the 12 year old rye. Very unique flavours. Great atmosphere. Service was very friendly, will stop by again when in the area.

My wife and I recently visited this distillery during our stay at the DesBarres Manor Inn.
We both enjoyed the visit, enjoyed several tastings and purchased several of their high quality products.

Overall I would definitely recommend a visit here.
