Mahone Bay in general is a must visit if you are in Nova Scotia. It's an adorable little town, with a constant stream of activities - my parents and brothers all live here (I live in California). The museum has local history, and shows you about the families that formed it (many of the names which still live there) and other cute artifacts. Definitely go in, it doesn't take long and it helps to keep places like this alive and part of the community. …

A must stop if you’re exploring Main Street Mahone Bay! This beautiful museum has some of the best displays of local history, as well as, fun activities for children to learn and be creative. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely check it out!!!

We were lucky to be taken round by Anne, an artist and local historian, who told us about many aspects of this historic area. Do go, it is free entry and well worth the time we had there.

We were interested in the history of Mahone Bay because it’s such a charming little town so we went into the museum. The young man who gave us the history was informative and knowledgeable and obviously was interested in and enjoyed the subject. He answered all of our questions and I felt that I really understood how the town came to be. There are very few actual “relics” from the history but our guide made it worth the time. I would recommend it to anyone interested in how Mahone Bay was founded.…
