Well worth a visit. Very informative and interestingly presented, lots of photos. Spans local history from the early settlers to present day, though focusing on the original families and why they came here. Free entry, but donations welcome. Even has free wifi.

Went to visit this house museum and expected to have to pay an entrance fee but it was free! Enjoyed learning about the various people in town and what life was like in the days gone by. I found it interesting that the ceilings were decoratively painted in the style of that time. And when you visit you will learn why shoes were found inside the walls of this old house.

Mahone Bay in general is a must visit if you are in Nova Scotia. It's an adorable little town, with a constant stream of activities - my parents and brothers all live here (I live in California). The museum has local history, and shows you about the families that formed it (many of the names which still live there) and other cute artifacts. Definitely go in, it doesn't take long and it helps to keep places like this alive and part of the community.

I visited this museum in early July. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed the oral history video collection and the exhibit regarding the Three Churches. It was all fantastic though. I love the building it’s in too.

A little hard to notice when walking along the main street as it is elevated up from the road. The place is laid out to make learning an experience not a chore. Plenty of hands on for children and adults too. One could spend hours in there; I have been back twice and will go again when next in the area. Well done. Staff friendly and helpful.

A great little community museum that remains focused on the history of a great little town. They work hard to change up some of the subjects each year.

We were passing through Mahone Bay on our way to visit family in Fall River and planned to spend some time looking round this beautiful little town, I had read about the museum so put in on our list of things to do.
It was free to enter but suggested a donation, which is worth giving. A lot of work and research as been completed by the people who run the museum. The Museum gives a charted history of the family who lived in the property who originated from Europe, on display there were lots of interesting examples of life lived in the house. I left with a improved knowledge of the people who founded the area and why. Very interesting and informative.

We have an old Cape from 1784 and found some interesting items when renovating. The staff at the museum was very helpful in finding out the meaning behind the straw doll.
