My husband and I chose the old course at knollwood to have our wedding at. We had looked at many venues prior to finally making the choice but nothing compared knollwood. it was wonderful to have everything in one location yet we loved that there were separate areas for each part of the day (ie. ceremony location, cocktail location and the tent) The only thing that i was leary about were the bathrooms as I thought there was only the bathrooms inside but to my surprise on the wedding day I found out there were some located much closer to the tent!

We also hired the DJ that knollwood suggested and who djs most of the weddings there. We found him to be a joy to work with from beginning to end. We spoke on the phone several times and emailed back and forth .I found that he made wonderful suggestions before the wedding in terms of songs that worked together and was able to suggest others that i haven't thought about but were on the same lines of songs i had already considered but wasn't sold on. Mike replied to my emails immediately even if it was late into the night. Mike was wonderful with all of our guests and very understanding and flexible when we changed our entrance song on him by surprise! As a dj I am sure it becomes difficult to play everything people request but he was able to accommodate most of the requests and was able to keep the dance floor packed from 9pm until 1am! Even my husband's 85 year old grandma was up dancing the whole time. Somehow Mike was able to find songs that appealed to people from the age of 12 all the way to the age of 88! Many of our guests commented after the wedding about how wonderful our dj was. He also took over and had a game in mind to keep our guest entertained when we really didn't have much of a plan for this area of the evening.

The service was wonderful and prompt. Our tent needed little decorating but I was glad that i could leave a details list of how the centre pieces and candles should be placed and they were able to set up the tent just the way I had described.

I was a little disappointed that we weren't able to use more of the course to take pictures on but we were able to find areas that worked once we found our the rules.

I was extremely impressed with knollwood and if we had to do the wedding again, we would hire both knollwood and DJ Mike again in a heartbeat.

We had our wedding at the new course in June 2014- ceremony on the east lawn and reception at Harris Hall. Overall we had a great day and were happy with our choice of venue. For simplicity I will break down the pros and cons of this venue:

PROS
- Beautiful rustic venue with converted barn (Harris Hall)
- You can rent the "inn" on the property and hold your rehearsal dinner there and then get ready there the day of the wedding as well as stay there the night of the wedding... Very convenient, and a very sweet house- perfect for pictures!
- They allow you to bring in a food truck for late night food- you can opt out of their late night food option and they will rebate you an amount per person. This is pretty unique for a venue to allow outside food on their property and was a big hit with our guests!
- Food was great (at the tasting they plated small portions which worried us but the day of the wedding the portions were totally appropriate)

CONS
- Golfers will be around the day and into the evening; they do not close off the stone lounge to golfers so there may be some overlap between your guests and golfers during cocktail hour
- We had the experience that they held a tournament the day of our wedding and actually used our reception room for a lunch for the golfers. We weren't notified of this beforehand and I wasn't able to get in to the room to set up my decor the way I wanted before the wedding, causing a fair amount of stress. They have since apologized for this oversight and compensated us.
- Inconsiderate staff- my sister in law made our wedding cake and made amazingly intricate fondant flowers. After serving the cake the staff actually threw ALL of these in the garbage!!! It almost made me cry it was such a waste. They have since apologized for this. They did set aside our top tier for us but it has no flowers on it... Such a waste. The staff were also somewhat ambivalent at times, not super organized with our items (the next day we had to ask multiple times about specific items until they found them for us) and did not follow through with everything on our "event sheet" (I.e. moving flowers from ceremony site to reception site) until I reminded them to.

As I said before, the day was great and we wouldn't change our choice of venue if we could. Any wedding will have some hiccups and in hindsight ours were relatively small- Christina and Nicole did a great job and responded to my issues afterwards with genuine concern and compassion.

The course may not have the length of other courses but still some challenging holes. The next holes are not clearly marked- so follow the group ahead. Very little marshalling done on the course. Clubhouse food is good & service is friendly.

I think it is terrible that Knollwood golf courses are the only courses gouging their walk on players an additional $10 surcharge for a single rider. I talked to the management and he told me that they are not making any money on the carts. I say BULL_ _ _T. I refuse to play this course and would advise others to do the same. Its like charging extra for toilet paper

My husband and I had our wedding at the "old" course on Shaver Rd. Let me start by telling you about the good parts of the day. The grounds are beautiful, the service staff were wonderful and the food was delicious.

However ALL of that was overshadowed by things that occured during our wedding and how it was handled by Knollwood after the wedding.

With the wedding packages, Knollwood provides the DJ (As you like it is the name of the DJ company), which is great... However he turned out to be the RUDEST person I have ever met. Before the ceremony even started he got into a verabal altercation with our officiant and the singer we had, who happened to be 13 years old. He was so rude to them that guests that weren't even involved in their converstation made it a point to tell me what they had overheard and how inappropriate he was. My cousin asked if she could request a song and his reply was "that depends if your taste in music sucks or not" and then he turned his back to her. He was rude to my father, brother in law and plenty of other people. The guests that were sitting closest to him commented about his behaviour as well. When we went to do he garter toss he turned my chair around to face his booth and said "this way the only one who can see up your dress is me and I m practically gay anyways". The list goes on and on in regards to his rudeness. During the dinner I was speaking to the wedding coordinator and I mentioned that hew as being rude to some of my guests. She said she would speak to him. When I arrived to the hotel after the reception was over I had recieved a nasty email from the DJ. He sent it to me WHILE WORKING at my wedding. This was unacceptable. I immediatley forwarded the email to the wedding cordinator at Knollwood to express my distaste and she never replied. My mother ran into her 2 weeks after and explained that I was upset to not have heard back from her. She replied that she didn't think I wanted a response? Really? My mother explained how upset I was and she replied that she would call me the next day. She never called. I recieved a cop-out email stating that she was trying to work something out with the DJ and would be in contact with me. I sent her an email back (on October 3rd) stating how I was upset that she never called like she said she would and explained in detail ALL of the innapropriate things that the DJ said and did. I also explained to her that I found it unbeliavble that she has taken no action in any form towards this as this service was one that KNOLLWOOD provided. It is a poor reflection on them. She was also not the easiest to deal with through the wedding process as gettting any form of information from her was like pulling teeth. I let it go through the planning process as I figured that maybe this is how it always is for people planning weddings. However her recent actions (or should I say lack of action) has just confirmed my feelings to be true. It has been 5 WEEKS since I have sent her that email and I have not heard from her... or anyone from Knollwood. It is VERY disheartening to know that you save and save and plan a beautiful wedding only to have it not taken seriously be the people you have hired. I don't feel like I was asking too much, some acknowledgement to my emails would have been nice. If you want to be treated with respect please do NOT have your wedding here.

Beautiful Venue however, unorganized management. ALOT of mistakes on our Wedding day. higher end price point but very small portions for food, they lied in the tasting. They do not return emails in timely fashion. Denied late guests food. short staffed. Failed to add the paid for premium selection to bar. List goes on. We are very dissapointed.

The course is better than my rating...a little. Its cheap so that's good but like with everything you get what you pay for. I bought an unlimited membership with unlimited cart. Day one of membership was a problem when they stated they would not let me book a tee time as an individual. Kinda weird as my membership only allows me to play. It doesn't even offer a diacount for guests that I bring. Anywho, one of the severely menatally unstable owners actually revoked membership for complaining about not getting on and not gettig a cart. I went to location to get a copy of their terms and conditions and this same nut job who's name starts with a J, banned me from the property when he found out I was inquiring. So I took his but to court and nedless to say he settled awfully quick with his tail between his legs. All said and done, I actually got paid to golf 30-40 times! Great summer! Thanks Knollwood!

Nicole the girl who books the weddings here was so rude and impolite.
we went for our wedding tasting, was supposed to be prime rib but that night apparently they didnt have it so they gave is another meal. We are having PRIME RIB not here to sample a different menu.
She is very hard to get ahold of, doeant answer emails for weeks. I do not reccomend this place to get married at unless you are prepared to not have answers and feel like its up in the air.
Also the cleanliness is not the best. The bathroom seemed to be used by golfers as well and during the night it seems nobody checks the bathroom. I saw one of the cooks taking food out of their car for service.
Poor management, lack of customer service and the food just ok, nothing spectacular.

I'm sorry that you had a negative experience. We host our menu tastings in the spring every year for wedding clients booked for the upcoming season. If guests are unable to attend these scheduled menu tastings, we do our best to accommodate them at another time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cook a whole prime rib for only 2 people, and while we try to invite couples in for their tasting while cooking a prime rib for another event, it does not always work for the clients' schedule. At the same time that I invite guests to the menu tasting, I also forward my clients a wedding booklet, containing important information regarding their wedding, and a list of questions required to ensure a successful experience. Unfortunately some clients ignore or forget about this booklet, leaving them feeling overwhelmed by questions. Often when clients complain that they feel their wedding is "up in the air", it is because they have neglected their own responsibility of reviewing this booklet and finding relevant answers there. Further, Knollwood does not provide a "wedding planner" for their event, and while I am often happy to provide my own experiences and advice, it is sometimes more beneficial for a client to enlist the services of a professional wedding planner/coordinator if they feel they need help beyond what I can provide. Some of the washrooms are also used by golf clients (specifically those inside the clubhouse); however once the wedding begins, the staff are trained to redirect golfers to other washrooms, and visit the guest washrooms often to ensure supplies and cleanliness are maintained. Again, I sincerely apologize that your experience was less than satisfactory. I do wish all of my clients all the best in their lifetime together.

Got married here this August 2016, loved the venue in the barn, food was good, organization terrible, DJ Mike that they provide 1/10 beyond terrible..I gave him a list of songs - at least 100 songs and maybe played 3 of them, messed up are first dance song too..
Also their air conditioning in the barn very bad, if your holding weddings here figure it out, they charge enough for the venue to invest in a better AC unit...

For the courses....bad layout on the new, decrepid conditions on the old. Do you like teeing off off rough? Do you like putting through moss and winter burn?

All that said, they had a deal on golfnow.com for $45. We were trying to book it through our phones in the parking lot. The app wasnt working, kept saying the tee times were no longer available. They wouldnt honour the price and tried to charge us $70!! In October!! We asked for the manager and the jerk at the desk we were dealing with said he was the manager.

I havent been treated so poorly at a golf course in my life. The manager made it clear they didnt want or need our business. I have golfed there probably 25 times in the past couple years, but never going back.
