I enjoy taking the kids here ages 3 & 5 about 4 times a year while we are bike riding along the attached bike trail.

Kids have a lot of fun and they enjoy and get rid of all their energy and I don't have to worry about cars while biking on the trail :-)

It is something to see when the fish jump the latter usually in the fall in September/October

The Salmon are very large this time of year!

at the end of this Bike trail there is a nice park kids can play at.

A nice walk (or ride) along sidewalk or there are little paths on the water's edge. You could even paddle in water at most places along the way-it is shallow.Listen to the sounds of nature-lots of birds, ducks in pond along path.We have seen blue Heron's.Volunteers have done a great job on the fish ladder. It is fun to watch the salmon going up-river!

A wonderful experience for all ages to see the salmon swim upstream to spawn. Watching them swimming and preparing to jump up the rushing water is fasinating.

I love walks along the Bowmanville Creek with my family & watching the fish at the ladder is an additional treat. My youngest daughter loves watching this event but timing is everything.

There's ample free parking available & its a fun way of getting some good ole fresh air into your lungs whilst strolling amongst nature. Will definitely make coming here a regular event.

We stopped here while camping in the area. The trail is paved and in a beautiful setting. Having read reviews of people who had visited in July in previous years and reported seeing the fish, I thought there would be something to see. However, when we got there the information boards revealed that the fish use the ladder in the Spring and Fall so there were no fish for us to see. We did see a crane and other birds, and it is a beautiful spot, but the kids were disappointed not to see the fish. Will have to return at the proper time of year.

I always enjoy a fall walk along the Bowmanville Creek and especially watching the fish at the ladder. The efforts put in by the community groups to make the fish ladder possible is tremendous and well appreciated.
Lots of free parking and a great way to get some fresh air and let the kids see the fish.

The Bowmanville Valleys conservation area includes the fish ladder. Trout use the ladder as well as salmon, but at different times of the year. You should check their website for details.
This recommendation is based on the entire area, not just the fish ladder. The path is paved and level, so it's wheelchair accessible, but only if the snow or ice has melted. Nobody clears the snow so it's often icy well into March.

If you get a chance to see the fish ladder when the salmon or trout are running it is incredible. Well done Valleys 2000 for getting it built.
