About
The Tyrone Mills Limited -1846 has been owned and operated by Robert Shafer over the last 30 years - but its history stretches back far greater than that! Over the last 168 years, the Tyrone Mills has been a grist mill, flour mill, lumber mill, apple cider producer, historic tour center, bakery, and rural community center. Today, it continues to preserve its traditional roots through continual use of its water power in lumber manufacturing and flour production. Open year-round, the mill offers visitors a chance to witness Canadian History and Culture in action. Each season of the year adds to the unique character to the mill. Whether it is drinking hot apple cider to chase away the winter chill, Rob Shafer working steadfast in the lumber yard in the spring, visitors enjoying a scenic walk along the dam in the summer, or shoppers enjoying our baking and festivities in the fall. The mill not only offers a range of quality products, but also a sense of community connection. If you have not yet had the chance to come visit - please do! And, for those of you who have - we look forward to welcoming you again soon. The Shafer family.

If you’re looking to be surprised and delighted, then check out Tyrone Mills either as a destination or a side stop. If you have time, you can climb the wooden steps to the second floor and after checking out the working woodshop, head on out the back door to sit by the pond. Or you can grab your goodies and have a snack on the gazebo covered patio out front and watch the world come to the mill, marveling at how vibrant it still is after more than 150 years! The store has so much to offer – candles, soaps, knitwear, preserves and of course their own flours and baking mixes. I personally recommend the Cranberry and White Chocolate scone mix , the best ready made mix I’ve ever had and I look forward to trying all of them!

Attractive old mill with typical tourist items for sale. Apparently their tarts are very good but we didn't try. Not much to see.

Unfortunately our first visit was during the Covid 19 restrictions and safety precautions so we never got to enjoy the full experience of what the shop is usually like and were unable to walk around but we were very pleased with the items we purchased and were greeted very friendly and graciously by the staff/owners. The hot cinnamon donuts are to die for and we ended up going right back in to buy more to take home. Besides donuts we purchased a selection of tarts, a pie, some nanaimo bars and some home made jam. There is a freezer with an assortment of breads as you walk in as well which look really nice so we might try one of the loaves next visit.

At the front of the building there is a lovely covered porch with seating where we sat and enjoyed some of their donuts and there is also a lovely pond in the back with some benches and a little lookout where you can sit and enjoy the view. We will definitely be back. Such a lovely little spot. Highly recommend a visit.

Been here several times to purchase donuts, tarts, honey, jam, maple syrup, ice cream, soup mixes, and jewelry. Can't wait until summer to try their brick oven pizzas.

Great place to stop while out for a Sunday drive... In summer you can get a stone cooked pizza, bakery goods, ciders, sit outside and have an ice cream....

We came to visit Santa and had a wonderful time! We took pics with Santa, then shopped in their adorable, rustic shop. They had tons of baked goods and other items for sale. We actually found some vegan scone mix and a vegan brownie that we enjoyed! We will definitely be coming back next year.

A nice afternoon outing for ice cream and other treats. A quiet area out back to sit by the mill pond and enjoy your treats.
