My first visit to the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary, that I remember, was in the early 1940's when, as a young man of age 8 or 9-years, my parents took me here when we were en route to visit my mother's birthplace, London, Ontario. Ty...More

I had visited jack Miners as a child with my parents. I took my wife there for the first time and we weren't disappointed. The area was what I remembered well kept, very clean and lots of geese. It is so important that we have...More

our son loves animals of all sorts, so we made it a point to stop here while visiting from a neighboring town - variety of birds

Very disappointed to find the sanctuary closed. Poor signs, no indication of hours were posted. There were some interesting facts about Jack Minor posted on a fence. We felt like intruders. A disappointment, as we had fond memories from our childhood.

Great place to visit with family. Watch birds and nature. Great for a picnic. Kids loved it. Recommended.

Birds are there all year but the Canadian geese organize to head south in the fall. Fenced area has various unique birds. A lot of free parking available. Donation is optional. Short visit.

Unfortunately we were there in the off season but we did see the Jack Miner Museum, turkey vultures, ducks, geese, various small birds and peacocks. It would be a great place to visit in late March, early April or October and November.

go during migration season as there are more birds there. It is real fun when they drive a truck in the field and all the geese fly and the sky is full of birds.

I assume you mean "banded" As far as I know 1944 showed 50,000 had bands put on their leg. I do not know a more recent figure. We are in that area regularly so I will stop in and ask for update if they have one.

August-October. And when spring comes back around. They put hard corn out in the field so all the geese can eat at they're stop. There's a little museum there too, so if you miss the geese, you can read about the historic... More
