About
The "Muskoka Experience" always includes a cruise on the big 3 Muskoka Lakes, with their rugged & beautiful Canadian Shield vistas & gorgeous cottages. Enjoy live commentary including history & local lore. Depart Port Carling 7 days/wk late June-Oct. Sunset, dinner & private/bridal cruises too! Owned & operated by Captain Randy Potts, who has been a licensed captain for over 30 years, Sunset Cruises is an alternative to the larger ships, and can show you Muskoka scenery accessible only by our smaller ships. We go where the large boats don't. The Peerless II made its living for over 50 years as a gasoline and home heating oil delivery boat. We restored it so visitors and locals alike could see and experience first hand the historic supply boat era on the lakes.

Highly recommend cruising with Captain Randy Potts on his boat "Peerless II". I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Bracebridge and Port Carling Sept 2019 and had 3 wonderful days cruising on Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka as well as a sunset cruise and a family reunion tour. Capt Potts is very informative with the history of the area and kept us entertained with his knowledge. Peerless II has been beautifully restored and the staff were very helpful. Its a "must do" cruise - several to choose from - to anyone visiting the area.

Thank you for the positive review of our Peerless II. We very much enjoy showing off Muskoka to international travelers. Our Peerless II is very much a historic Muskoka ship with very friendly crew, reasonable prices and a very clean ship. Thanks again for the great review.

This was probably our third or fourth cruise over several years with Peerless II, and interesting as always. This one was in the northern part of Lake Muskoka; our previous ones were on Lake Rosseau. The ride itself is great, but the ongoing commentary by the captain on the history of the lakes and some of what we see adds a lot to the day/evening. A couple of years ago, we brought a big group of friends of ours from all over the US (a reunion of sorts) on an evening cruise, and they all loved it. A great way to experience Muskoka.

An absolute gem in the Muskoka area and a must do.
We had taken holidays after Labour day to avoid crowds and decided to go on a cruise with Sunset cruises.
We ended up sightseeing on the 2 hr Circle tour of Lake Rosseau. We ended up being the only people on the boat as other guests didn't show up to board.
It was very relaxing. We could freely move around the boat to admire all the splendors that Lake Rousseau has to offer.
The ship, The Pearless II is a beautifully kept vessel. Ample seating, clean washrooms, a snack bar stocked with treats and beverages. The staff was very polite, helpful and entertaining as well.
We have booked yearly cruises for the past 3 years with Sunset and will keep doing so as we can never get enough of the beauty that the area offers. There is nowhere else quite like Muskoka. It is a unique environment, one which calms and renews you. I hope it will forever remain this way.
Great thanks to Captain Potts who was very knowledgeable about Rousseau's history and it's distinguished inhabitants.
He made the cruise enjoyable and the time flew. Before we knew it we were back in port and wanting to go back out on the water.

What a fantastic way to spend the day aboard the Sunset Cruise BA Peerless II. Captain Potts & crew were awesome making my wife and I feel so welcome upon our arrival. My Dad used to work in the finance department at BA in Montreal back in the '50s & '60s so being able to cruise on this beautifully restored one time BA ship was really special. Wonderful scenery on our two hour Millionaire's Row tour along with great commentary & history of the ship & area from Capt. Potts.
Looking forward to another trip soon!

I booked the Peerless II for my husband’s birthday, and was not disappointed! There were 18 of us, and we had the whole boat to ourselves for an hour and a half. Captain Randy and his wife Debbie were very helpful leading up to the day and arranged all the food and drinks (at a very reasonable price), and even picked us up at our dock! The crew members and staff were all very pleasant and made our day extra special. The boat and bathroom facilities are spotless. There was hand sanitizer readily available for all the guests, every crew member wore a mask, and our whole family felt safe and comfortable. We had all different ages - from newborn to 60 years old, and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend this cruise for any special occasion. We’ll definitely do it again!

On July 2nd I booked the Peerless II for my 40th birthday sunset cruise. I had 30 people on board, and it was one of the most specials days I've ever experienced in my life. Caption Randy, and his staff were amazing!! They laughed with us and really went out of there way to ensure everyone on board was having a great time. Every time the boat turned, we had an unobstructed view of the sunset around Lake Rosseau! It was amazing and would highly recommend!!
Tha k you Sunsetcruises for making my 40th birthday extra special!

I have not written a review in years but yesterday afternoon‘s trip on the Peerless 2 deserves recognition. My wife and I had taken the peerless 2 tour of lake Muskoka last year, and returned yesterday to do Lake Rosseau. When we arrived at the dock we were the only ones booked on the cruise. I expected the captain to cancel. But he insisted upon going and we had a magnificent 2 1/2 hour tour of a lake with a boat all to ourselves. Such integrity deserves praise and thanks.
As mentioned in the other reviews the captain and the steward gave us detailed information about the various scandals, stories, highlights, and history of the places we saw on the tour. The cottages on this lake are all owned by the super rich and our steward, who has written five books on the lighthouses of the great lakes, had endless insights into their fascinating past. It was so relaxing and yet so much fun.
The boat is cute and tiny. I believe the capacity is only 40 people. It used to transport oil and other materials to the various cottagers on the lake, but it has been lovingly restored by the captain and is beautifully clean, historic and very comfortable. There are two immaculate washrooms and a nice little snack bar with a pleasant attendant. You can sit outdoors in the sun or retreat to a nice little indoor area with great windows.
Our plan is to go back again later this summer and do Lake Joseph with Peerless 2. They deserve our support because they gave us such a good time.

We took the 4 pm, one hour and a half cruise on the Thanksgiving Day.
The ship was clean and not crowded. ( we could see another ship coming back to the dock and it was packed with ppl).
There was plenty of room and everybody had their own space.
The staff were very nice and attending.
The snacks available to purchase on the ship were reasonably priced.
We really enjoyed the time and the Capitan showing us points of interest during the cruise.
We would like to come back.

We are visiting the Port Carling area for the first time and would like to board the Peerless II for a sunset tour on Oct. 14th. Is it a fact that your last cruise day is on Oct. 9th? If so, are there any other cruise companies that may still be operating on the 14th?
Thank you
Written October 8, 2017
Call the company directly. We were up in the area two weeks before Thanksgiving and were told by staff at our resort that due to the weather many companies had extended their season until the weekend after Thanksgiving.
