A windy day, lots of kite-surfers

Access for vehicles was locked - maybe since Labour Day? 30 - 50 km/h winds, more than a dozen kite-surfers there today. Really interesting to watch all stages of preparation... read more

This was iniatially hard to find, but worth it. The gates are locked post labour Day to stop cars etc using the beach. great beach to stroll and relax. Nice and clean. I took some good photos here. Apparently it is really busy in the summer with a charge for vehicles using the facilities and I don't think dogs can't... More

Cycling on Reuter Rd. to Lakeshore Rd. through a lovely treed enclave at the end. We were initially on the Friendship trail but turned off near Nickel St. across the tracks to Reuter Rd.

Best beach around - clean. Can drive your car to the spot you would like to be at. Staff helpful. Views of ships passing thru the Canal entering and leaving. Cool !!!!

When I arrived with my car I had nothing to pay as it was during the week days. However, on weekends, cars have to pay 10$. I was impressed that the beach was quite big. No wonder that so many people from Port Colborne come here during the weekend, with or without cars. Nearby we can see an industry. However,... More

Compared to the beaches I’m used to in Toronto, Nickel Beach has way better sand — softer and finer — and way warmer water. It’s also quite shallow meaning you can wade out a fair distance. Best of all, this place was deserted on a summer weeknight. Had the beach practically to ourselves! Definitely coming back.

Went to Nickel Beach on Friday. The place was unbelievable. You can drive your car right up on the beach if you choose, we didn't . The sand is white and the water is super warm. Yes a Canadian beach with warm water. There is not much in terms of shops or restaurants within walking distance but so what. Just... More

This beach is great. Can park on beach for $10 for the day. Shoreline is clean, water had some algae, but rather clear and not deep at all. Great atmosphere though. Not too many people, every one just wants to enjoy themselves and the beach. Don't drive onto the beach unless you have an actual 4x4 or else you will... More

First time visitor-surprised cars could drive on to the beach--we didn't dare to. Kids liked the sand. The water is not deep, so you do have to go pretty far out to be over your head. Bathrooms butnot easy to get to.

poop poop and more poop plus parked cars, dogs, broken beer bottles/trash and a lot of poison ivy, plus the algae/water weeds were possibly 1-2' thick making the water unsafe and unapproachable. The last time I swam in Lake Erie I got a terrible rash so seeing it so thick with green growth did not make me want to get... More
