- MP0721Bridgetown, Canada121 contributionsA fun day for the familyWe had a great day. The slides were fun but do be prepared to wait if you want to go on a tube slide as you have to get in line for a tube and then get in line for the slide. The roller coaster is quite tame and a decent introduction to coasters for young kids. The kiddo also loved the kids splash park area. We spent the whole day at the park from one to close. We did find that a number of things didn't necessarily work properly. The token machine for the lockers wasn't giving tokens but they sent someone over right away and they gave me one. There's also meant to be some kind of Quest activity on some side trails but this doesn't seem maintained at all so we didn't bother with it after a couple of stations didn't work. Overall a really fun day but I wouldn't recommend spending any time on the small side things.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten July 27, 2023
- tshep42Halifax, Canada3,665 contributionsNice ParkManage expectations. This is not Marine World. This is a well spaced out park. Only 2 places to eat, one at the beginning and one near the end. The one near the end just had a Beavertails and a place that only served hotdogs and slush puppies. This is not just a water park. There is a fun, little splash park at the beginning. Then the 4 big water slides. Then a pool. That’s it for water. They have a variety of other things. Fair rides, haunted house (not scary), roller coaster (not scary either) playground, funny mirrors and a house of mirrors, castle (only the outside) small petting zoo, etc. Didn’t seem like a lot but we managed to spend almost 5 hours there with a 7 & 4.5 year old. It was busy but not packed at all.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 7, 2023
- Kate R2 contributionsCould use some investment - still good day with kidsWe went on a cold day with rain looming so we were able to do quite a bit without waiting which was nice. Having the mix of water park and rides is a nice variety which helps kids stay engaged. A lot of the attractions have seen better days or were only partially operational. My partner and I were genuinely shocked at how unhappy and disengaged all the employees were throughout the day. They barely made eye contact, never spoke to us. We’d approach rides or attractions and and have to ask employees if we could get on because they wouldn’t really acknowledge us. We had a good day but it was just a very odd vibe to feel like the employees at the fun park were all so miserable.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 7, 2023
- Lisa W55 contributionsDon’t Get ExcitedThis place was what my kids (6 & 3) wanted to do all week, so we gave in. I found the passes to be pretty expensive ($35) for a park that is staffed by preteens and looking a little neglected or out of order. We didn’t do the water park, and we still had lots to look at. Carnival style rides were good for young kids, and there wasn’t any wait. Just a bizarre place to be, with the wacky little stops that cost a fortune and bored employeesVisited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 11, 2023

What a disappointment I will not pay for this amusement park again …in the kiddie pool area they have at least 20 chairs that are not safe to sit in mesh with huge holes in it .. what a danger ! Some rides were not working.. it’s a absolute embarrassment to have such a neglected tourist attraction

They make you pay full price to supervise you kids/grandkids, even if you don't participate. Why not offer a cheaper alternative for those not wanting to participate. just there to watch their younger children.

Had a great time at Shining Waters! Read a few reviews and was hesitant to go. Glad we went! Our 9 yr old daughter and 11 year old nephew had a blast.
We got there around 2:00 and the line ups took about 20 minutes waiting for tubes but by 3:30 or 4:00 it slowed down to no wait times at all and they went as many times as they wanted. They have lots of lawn chairs setup around the area so you can sit close by and keep an eye on your children as they play. It’s a great setup.
Only reason I didn’t give a 5-star is because their lockers need updated or replaced. You have to buy “tokens” and then drop tokens into the locker for one time use. So you need a token for every time you open the door… Problem is they are old and don’t work properly. So you drop the token in and the key won’t come out. On our 4th locker we finally got one that the key would actually come out and then the door closed before we got our stuff in it! We decided to take our stuff with us….
However, I didn’t have any safety concerns like other posts described. The lifeguards were all young but looked properly trained and very attentive. We will be back!

We started out having fun, but after watching a man smashing into a woman on the blue water slide and thinking this was just a unlikely thing to happen, my 6 year old 40 pound grandson came down the slide only to have a full size 150 pound male smash into him full force. This is not safe., Luckily my grandson did not end up with a broken back. The owners should be paying more attention to safety and less about hurrying the guests down. This was not at a busy time, but on a Saturday 5 minutes before closing. We travel to Prince Edward Island every year but will reconsider going to Shing Waters after this very stressful and terrifying experience. I spoke with the young person at the slide who directed me to the supervisor, and I did not get any feedback that she understood how serious this could have been. After watching an ambulance arrive at the park earlier in the day, it leaves me wondering if that was someone else hurt because of sending the guests down too early.

Staff poorly trained to deal with customers. Was threatened with physical violence by 2 men working here while holding my 1 year old. Definitely skip this place, everything is outdated, roller coaster ride is literally 30 seconds.

Fun small water park. Many of the rides were under construction. The line up just to get a tube for the water slide gets very long. So be prepared to wait 45 mins at least. Just for one slide. There has to be a better system. Glad we went, but probably would not return.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to make a review. I'm happy to hear that you were glad you went, but disappointed that you would not return. This beautiful weather we have been experiencing has brought a lot of guests to the park looking to cool down on the waterslides, and sometimes that does mean waiting in a lineup. There should have only been one ride that was down for maintenance, unfortunately to the mechanical nature of the rides, unplanned maintenance does sometimes occur. I hope you are able to return another time and enjoy the park the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

How much does it cost

It's around $24/person. Check out maritime fun website. should have all the pricing information there. I believe you can see all of their attractions from there.

Is the park large enough to warrant bringing a stroller for a 3 and 5-year-old?

Shining Waters is spread out over 30 acres, so if you have young children that would use a stroller or a wagon, feel free to bring it along!

Hi, I would like to know if there are any nice places to stay around this water park?
Adam H
Cavendish, Canada1 contribution
Carol, We are located quite centrally in Cavendish and there are many high quality accommodations within walking distance to the park. Many even offer packages that include admission to the parks. You can view a list of our packaging partners on our website under 'Plan Your Visit' Sorry I can't link directly here.
All the best,
Adam
