The rides were generally very fun. Aside from the Cyclone, mini golf and train it is very similar to Thomas Amusements. This is my second time reviewing Sandspit and this review is fair based on comparing it with other parks and the age of my children. Despite a lower number of day passes sold (weekly passes are not offered at the moment) physical distancing is not possible. My children (three girls aged 11, 10 and 6) were happy with the rides, but were disappointed with the carnival games. I understand that they are not meant to be easy, but after the attendant saw that we spent over thirty dollars, the least he could have done is allowed my six year old to get a prize, especially since she knocked over three of the cans, but one happened to be still on the edge of the circle and she also got the frog on the flower platform but not in the yellow flower. In another case, the ball that counted a number landed on the divider and the attendant moved it into the slot with his hand rather than counting it as zero. Again, given the circumstances (over thirty spent and the last one being the cans) I believe he should have showed a little compassion and caring (or any emotion at all for that matter). Regarding the staff in general, I believe they should be more rigorously trained for dealing with the public. There are many webinars online that can be found with a simple Google search. Regarding the games, I think a good idea would be to include a small prize coupon if the patron buys a minimum amount of tickets. Lastly, the ball pit is now gone and is replaced with a small roller coaster; I think that it could have been a better choice that involved some physical activity. Overall, Sandspit is worth visiting while in Cavendish but you may have to lower your expectations regarding some of the experiences other than the rides themselves.

Pleasant Day in a Vintage Amusement Park
Jul. 2020
Sandspit Amusement Park is a throwback to a simpler time featuring vintage rides that are designed for pre-teens.

Visiting in these COVID-19 times was not a problem. The day we were there it was not busy (they control numbers by requiring reservations) and there was no issue maintaining social distancing. We were warmly greeted at the gate and all the staff were pleasant and friendly. Guests cooperated by wearing masks on the rides.

Beware of the hot dogs - maybe the most overcooked wiener in my life.

Great Family Activity in Cavendish! Exceeded Expectations!
Jul. 2020
Our family visited this weekend- 11 year old daughter and her 12 year old friend. I was worried there would not be enough for older kids to do, turned out I was wrong!! They had a blast!

The park is doing a wonderful job with Covid restrictions- from mask wearing to screening upon arrival to booking on line. I liked booking on line and knowing we didn't have to worry about if it was too busy to get in and have a plan as to when we had to go- we opted for 5-10pm rather than 10-6 and for us it worked well. We preferred being there after/outside the heat of the day.

While most of the rides are older everything was well maintained and the staff were excellent.

A great option for family fun in Cavendish!

Awesome family day
Aug. 2019
Visited in the summer of 2019, a family with kids aged 3 and 5.
We had a blast. Although it was an extremely hot day (and there’s minimal shaded areas), we had a great time.
The kids couldn’t go on all rides but there was enough that they could.

Fun fun!
Jul. 2019
Great spot for family fun! We enjoyed just going from ride to ride and repeating what we liked. Staff at: main entrance were exceptional friendly and helpful for how to purchase separate tickets for go carts and main rides. Loved that we could come and go for the day to take breaks to eat and back again. It was handy to our cabin and good places to eat.

We tried to avoid this place but the kids were bugging to go
We went around 6pm and the kids actually had a blast
We’re from Toronto so didn’t expect the kids to have such a good time
We enjoyed ourselves because the kids were happy with the rides
Mostly the bumper boats
Worth checking out with the family

A fun family break from the beach!
Aug. 2019
We spent an afternoon at Sandspit after a few days at Cavendish Beach, when we needed a little break from the sun & sand. The free parking & admission is great - you just pay for either ride tickets or a wristband for unlimited rides. Pricing is average for what you'd expect for a touristy place.

The grounds were really clean & the staff was friendly & helpful. It's a small park but had enough variety that everyone had a good time & kept busy, though I don't know if it would be worth it to buy the weeklong pass. Highlight of the day was taking on the bumper boats - hadn't been on those in years & it was a blast!!!

Would definitely recommend this as a nice break from the rest of the Cavendish relaxing/historic activities - great for all ages!

Guess you have to do it
Aug. 2019 • Family
As much as I promote in creating a Tom Sawyer adventure sometimes you have to stop at a place like this.

Our 10 year old is now at the height (57”) where he could drive the go karts (extra expense 7 dollars per 5 min ride). They go pretty good and he had a blast.

Our 8 year old loves the bumper boats and roller coaster.

Park is clean, short lines and enough variety for a couple hour break from nature.
