The tour was amazing. Very informative and fun to learn about the animals. The alpacas were great. We got to hose them down with water, which they loved and we got to feed Grizwald the Llama apples!
Highly recommended!

Our family (two adults, granny, and two children) visited Green Gables Alpacas today and had a truly wonderful experience. We learned so much about these animals, and the love and care towards these animals is evident. We were introduced to the alpacas from a safe distance (mostly for the animals protection), and had an informative farm tour by Maggie, our awesome guide. The tour ended with a demo of yarn making by the owner Janet, which was fascinating. This was our first stop on our trip to PEI and will not be forgotten! Thank you.

Lovely experience! We got go into the paddocks with the alpacas. The animals are very cute and curious, but don’t like to be touched, which is explained in the tour. The tour is very informative, and the owner is extremely knowledgeable. Nice little gift shop on the property sells all kinds of yarn, socks, mitts, etc. There is a washroom in the gift shop as well. Need to book a tour in advance, but Janet was lovely, took photos for us, showed us how she spins yarn from alpaca fibre, and was very helpful while we looked at different yarn weights. We also got to feed a llama!

When we were driving by around 4pm, the ‘come in, we’re open’ sign was flying in the driveway. As soon as we pulled in, people came out from the barn, house and gift shop. Advising us the last tour was at 3pm, that we would have to come back another day. When we said we didnt need a tour, just wanted to see the animals quickly and take a peak in the gift shop, the older woman (owner?) quickly said ‘fine, just dont stress out the animals!’. Surely walking by the fence isnt going to stress out the animals, considering they do tours of the farm. We were excited to visit, but it left a bad taste in our mouth, and we wont be back. If its that big of a deal to have someone visit outside of tour hours, maybe having a flag isnt a good idea.

The three generations in our family visit all loved the farm. It was very educational, even for a nerd like me. The farm is in a beautiful area, and the hats and products we bought are top notch and very hard to find elsewhere. There is a great burger place nearby too called Backwoods Burger.

Super fun! You learn a lot about the animals and the farm, and you get to feed a llama. There’s a very nice gift shop too with high quality products.

I looked up their site as we were driving by...No where does it say you MUST book a tour. We drove by and they have a “C’mon In, We’re Open” sign so we did. When we pulled in and parked (I alone got out just to take a quick look at the Alpacas), a women came out (Janet), quite briskly, asking if I had booked a tour. I explained we were just passing through and I had never seen an alpaca and was hoping to just see the cute guys in person. She went on about how I should have booked a tour, and seemed so put out that I just wanted to look at them for a minute, I actually felt uncomfortable. Saying that she had time to show me where the gift shop was, and to bring me a business card and again reminded me how to book a tour. She was borderline rude and made me uncomfortable for stopping. If you don’t want people to stop, don’t put sign casting Come in !!! Instead put one out that says you only accept scheduled reservations. Disappointing. Manners say a lot about people.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate the time you took to share your experience. I am sorry that the interaction was less than what we strive for. Our business has grown dramatically in the past year or so. Prior to this year, we offered tours and opportunities for folks to ‘just see’ our animals on a demand basis and we quickly learned that demand was exceeding our resources. We are a small farm with limited space and can only safely accommodate a limited number of vehicles and people on our property at any given time. In addition to space constraints, limiting tour group size prevents the possibility of overwhelming our animals, especially during the heat of the summer. This year we implemented advanced booking of tours to try to manage this growth in traffic. All of our social media accounts and current marketing materials indicate that booking of tours is recommended. We do recognize that change is a process and it will take time for the message to reach all potential clients and those who may be suggesting us. We try to accommodate drop in traffic, but only when we have the capacity to do so. Unfortunately, when your group arrived, we already had a full tour underway and we would have been overwhelming our animals and our staff for me to add another tour at that time. I did offer that you visit our on farm store, as that is open daily from 9am to 5pm. I do sincerely apologize if I was abrupt in attempting to convey our limitations; I did not intend it to be. While we never enjoy receiving negative feedback, we do find it helpful to learn from. It allows us to see our experience thru the eyes of our clients and helps us improve for future visitors. We will be reviewing our on farm signage as well as our on line material to ensure all are consistent with our new delivery format. Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Have a wonderful summer. Regards, Janet

We had a very enjoyable visit. Janet shared her wealth of knowledge and provided a very thorough tour. We learned so much about alpacas and how they are raised at her farm. It is very important to note that this is not a petting zoo; it is a working farm. We enjoyed observing the alpacas, while learning about their unique personalities and behaviours. We were very pleased to meet Griz, the guard llama, and to feed him by hand. Our informative tour continued in her shop as Janet demonstrated the properties of various fibres. My wife was very impressed by the quality of the yarn, purchasing some before we left, as well as a ‘herd’ of toy alpacas for our kids.

The behind the scene tour with the alpacas was cute. Our party was all senior ladies and enjoyed learning about this cute little animal. Janet was very welcoming and the alpacas were fun to meet.

We love to stop here every year. You can get a tour to go in and actually get close to the Alpacas, and learn all about how they live. The guides are really great around the animals, and if you are lucky, you will get to see the newborns.

After a visit with the Alpacas, stop in the shop for some great products...sweaters, wool, socks (a must if you live anywhere where it gets cold in the winter).

Really great place to spend some time, for young or old.
