This business is a short drive from La Malbaie, we went on a sunny day, and the drive into the countryside was really beautiful.
The ladies were kind enough to give us a "tour" and explain the start of the business and the evolution, which is a testament to the drive and innovation of the locals. After the information session, we went into the store and were surprised with the number of products they produce. They have dried products, mushroom powder, numerous marinated mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, and they also carry some products from other local suppliers and producers (this is a bit of a theme in the Charlevoix, local businesses supporting each other, which we really liked).
I would estimate that we spent about an hour to an hour and a half there, but it was really interesting and we came away with quite a few tasty products. They ship across the country as well, so we no where to get more!
This place is well worth visiting, and I should add that while we do speak some French (poorly), they were happy to give us the information in English and the people there were exceptionally friendly.

We knew about this place from tasting their perfectly marinated mushrooms after we bought a jar at Baie-St-Paul's "A Chacun son Pain" boulangerie.... After eating them we decided to go directly to the source of this soulful treat.

Driving there was a beautiful journey: creeks and forests, hills and meadows. We had fun.

But meeting people who produce the mushrooms and make them edible was even more exciting.

We had a tour on mushroom production and tasting, we spoke to the "mushroom lay", and we bought lots of jars of marinated oysters. They are divine!!!

You can also buyhere honey and jams locally made.

Please come here and enjoy .

Champignons Charlevoix is only 12 or so km into the countryside and well worth the jaunt from La Malbaie. Directions are well signposted and parking is easy.

This family run operation is small and very receptive to visitors. We all enjoyed the friendly free tour in English with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss their products. Best part was tasting their various creative products and discussing ways to enjoy them. We also swapped pesto-making ideas.

No pressure to buy, just enthusiasm about mushrooms and eating them. We did buy different products (some dried mushrooms to easily transport home - I can almost taste the rehydrated morels - and some mushrooms in oil and mushroom pesto to eat with wine, cheese, and other local Charlevoix products during our appetizer-times in the days to come. When friends dropped in for appies later that day their eyes widened with the mushrooms and I later learned that ventured out to the mushroom farm the next day to buy their own.

Ever wonder about how oyster mushrooms are produced? Didn't wake up that morning with that question on my mind, but a rainy-day fallback wound up being a terrific surprise and informative tour. Our tour guide was lovely and facile in English, and the tastings of preserved mushroom products were great (we left with a lot of merchandise). Would highly recommend rain or shine.

What a wonderful find ! It's really not obvious to locate this interesting place. But it's worth the effort... After all they're unique in Québec. There are other mushroom farms but this OYSTER MUSHROOM farm is unique.
I had the opportunity to get a knowledgeable young man (Félix) to explain the process and to show me the installations. The owner, Danielle Ricard, is very hands-on and it was a delight to chat with her also.
The tasting of various products made with their mushrooms helps one decide which - if not all... - products to buy.
A must if you're in the vicinity.

Not such a far drive from downtown La Malbaie and worth the detour. The tour of the small facility (barn) was interesting and got to taste samples before we made a purchase. Learned a bit about oyster mushroom farming and was glad we went.

We got a quick tour of how the oyster mushrooms are cultivated and then got some tasty samples. They sell a variety of marinaded and dried mushrooms along with pesto and a few other things. Prices were all fair. It was an easy and short drive about 5 miles up the hill from La Malbaie. It was easy to find the sign and the drive was nice.
