During our stay the bay was only calm enough to snorkel two of the seven days we stayed. The bay is shallow and uncrowded with turtles, fish and coral.

We snorkelled twice in Half Moon Bay. The first time about 3 p.m. and there were lots of fish. I saw a squid for the first time. I found many cleaning stations and got some good underwater pics. Two mornings later the conditions were poor and few fish around. If the conditions are good it is a safe and interesting... More

I am glad this little gem can be a little difficult to get in, and navigate. The Coral Reef was still healthy, and the fish were abundant.

We stayed across the street from half moon bay, and spent at least part of each of our 6 days on the beach there. The access is mostly private, except for through restaurants and a few spots. Entrances to swim without hobbling over rocks are hard to fine but the water is enticing and clear. Sadly, there are many people... More

Wonderful restaurant on the beach at half moon bay. The collectivo takes you to Akumal beach for a couple of dollars. We pay them a visit every time, great food on the beach. They have hammocks and little tree houses you can climb up and they put your beers in a bucket on a rope and you just pull them... More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo on the ground floor literally 60 feet from the ocean. Located in the middle of the Half Moon Bay, close to 2 very nice restaurants " La Lunita and La Buena Vida" (both with .25 of mile). Many more restaurants with in 1 mile, along with many small stores (with beer,wine,booze,... More

We enjoyed sitting watching the snorkelers on the reef and the waves gently rolling in on this beautiful beach. We spent three nights at La Buena Vida restaurant on this bay and it was lovely.

We stayed 2 wks in a condo here and loved the uncrowded beaches, restaurants, and snorkelling. Water shoes are recommended but not necessary on calm days. Water is shallow and there is so much to see beneath the surface. Great variety of fish and interesting coral gardens. Close to all the action, but far enough away to feel like you've... More
