When we visited Half Moon Bay, we were the ONLY people on the beach. This was in mid January 2015, but despite a few hotels on this bay, there were no people on the beach on a sunny day. We absolutely loved walking on the...More

The entry to the water is rocky so be sure to bring water shoes. Great spot for snorkeling as the coral is extensive. When the water is calm it is easy swimming - an such a large area to swim!

Stunning area. A smaller beach access than Akumal Bay but just as gorgeous. There is more rocky access here but the snorkeling is remarkable. Great place to rent a house or condo at. We stayed at Villa Vahalla and will again for sure.

Apparently there is good snorkeling but during our stay it was windy, choppy and rainy. Lots of Sargasso grass washed out but the hotels/condos/villas managers and owners are trying to clean it up.

Even though the beach is public in all of Mexico, the condos prevent access to this beautiful beach.

We enjoy staying on half moon bay for a few days when we visit that area. It's nice that the bay is not overcrowded like the other bays in the area. There is a nice reef to snorkel on the north side of the bay!...More

I love snorkeling in Half Moon Bay. There are turtles, but very small ones. The best thing about that bay is the coral. And the depth of the water is only 15 feet maximum. The coral reef filters the waves and jelly fish too... More

All beaches in Mexico are free, including Half Moon Bay. Although there is an area at the far end of HMB that is a feeding ground for turtles, I only saw one, and I snorkeled there for over a week. You will definitely see... More

Where we went it seemed small, protected, and out of the way. I am not sure that I would go wandering through any of the cities but I have no trepidation about going to out of the way beaches or historical sites.
