Our tour bus stopped in Valladolid on our way to Chichen Itza. We were given a short period of time to visit some of the sights. This was our first choice. It is a magnificent structure. Once we entered the building there was a respective silence as people examined the craftsmanship and art within the cathedral. It was a quick... More

A typically bold, austere Yucateca style quite different to the baroque excesses of central Mexican churches. It's not clear from the outside when they hold Mass but they do so several times a day on Sundays. The Cathedral overlooks a magnificent plaza which comes to life when the weather cools after dark. People enjoy the quaint S-shaped love seats. On... More

We were unable to get in to this Cathedral as it was locked up tight. The exterior promises a church you would like to explore. A beautiful building for pictures. Not sure if there are times when it is open to the public.

Booked a tour in Puerto Moreles from Lighthouse Tours, across from town square. Valladolid was part of trip, also visited Xichen, a cenote, Mayan center and a great buffet for $70.00 USA. An all day trip, worth every cent. This was our fifth year In PM, a month each time. I would not just go to Valladolid for a visit,... More

Beautiful historic cathedral - amazing how these buildings survive the test of time. Well worth stopping in to see inside.

The cathedral is located in the town square from what I'm told built from the ruins of a Maya temple across from it. The cathedral was closed when I was there so could not go inside, but outside architecture fit the surrounding town square environment.

Arrived just before closing time, 12:30 and needed to scurry. There are folks outside looking for money for sick kids and ladies selling peanuts who wont take no for an answer.

We stopped here on our way back from Chichen Itza. It's a beautiful church and quaint little town. While we were here we walked through the town square and visited the chocolateria.

Went here on way to chicnen itza and worth a stop. Typical small Mexican town with old shops pretty much unspoilt. Cathedral is fabulous and got some great photos around the square.
