Discover the secret world of nuclear government. For over 50 years this vast underground complex, remained secret, hidden on the outskirts of a sleepy Cheshire town. Declassified in 1993, the 35,000 sq ft underground bunker would have been the centre of Regional Government had nuclear war broken out. The bunker today offers a warm welcome to anyone looking for a totally different day out.

On approaching the museum up the lane you could be wondering if you are in the right place. There are no signs screaming out ' museum' , but more military ones telling you where to report etc, and various bits of cold war relics dotted about in the yard. A friendly cat greeted us and followed us in past the... More

My wife and I visited this facility during a short stay in the area. A truly fascinating place! There is a lot to see, with many rooms and exhibits, so a reasonable amount of time should be allowed to take it all in. The entrance itself has a number of interesting exhibits. We had coffee and a scone in the... More

My friend and I have an interest in all things Cold War so we decided to take a visit to hack green bunker. Originally a rotor bunker it was converted to support continuation of local government should the "balloon" have gone up. Upon arrival you are greeted by the imposing external concrete structure with a few interesting exhibits outside including... More

Very interesting museum. We had seen the signposts but never been and it was worth a visit. Not the easiest place to get to and sometimes you wonder if you've gone the wrong way (but it is a secret bunker after all!) May be a bit too in depth for younger children.

I was treated to a visit as a birthday present from my wife. I'm very interested in history and in particular military history. My wife on the other hand is not at all interested. I fully expected to rush round so that the wife didn't get too bored. To be honest that was not the case. We both really enjoyed... More

The actual site is of great interest given its history. Going inside is like a step back in time. The displays are very mis matched - just random collections here and there. There wasnt too much info either. You couldn't spend much more than 90 minutes here but still a very interesting place and worth a visit if you are... More

Having visited once before, with only half an hour to spend at the bunker, due to times on the website being different from the closing time (Now updated correctly!) we left feeling a little disappointed, as this place really does take a good few hours to thoroughly appreciate, especially if you wish to take advantage of the 45 minute film... We have passed the road sign for the not very Secret Bunker for many years, and last Thursday Feb 16th we made the visit. I am old enough to have lived through the second world war and its aftermath and this visit brought back a lot of memories. Things we should not forget. The exhibits were very interesting, and explained... More

This is a really excellent collection that really brings home just what a threat existed and the chilling precautions that had to be taken in response. Some of the equipment and exhibits are genuinely surprising to see, as everything was so secret. I was particularly amazed to see the Polaris and Trident warheads. I have a personal connection, in that... More

Took my 10 year old grandson yesterday and we enjoyed a good two hours of information combined with some fun finding the mice and rats hidden in the rooms.
