When we set off to this hike the weather was a bit cloudy. But the walk up was great. We got glimse of Helvellyn and the lakes in the distance. When we reach the top... it was a cloud. But a good hike. We choosed to continque over the fell and down toward Ullswater lake - because of the rain... More

I walked up from Patterdale via Boredale Hause, a good walk with a little scramble near the summit although I think that this can be avoided. From this summit there are excellent views of Ullswater and the Helvellyn range.

Once of the best places to walk to in the Lakes. This year went onto Boredale Hause from the Hartsop path and is much better than the Patterdale route, which has been effected by floods.

A testing 3-4 hour walk with a sting in the tail, up one of the fells I'd not done before. Commanding views of Patterdale, Glenridding and Ullswater, not to mention Helvellyn.

We recently did this walk for the 2nd time, (first time was back in 2012 & due to a foot problem I complained all the way down)! I was determined to do it this time without complaining and it was a success! We began the walk opposite the White Lion Inn, after having paid for parking at Patterdale Hotel. The... More

We took the anti-clockwise route from the Patterdale Hotel ( brilliant base ) aiming to get the fell ascent done and return along a relaxing flat lakeside and woodland walk. The fell itself is a fabulous walk with only a few scrambles and one of those can be easily avoided by skirting it to the right. The descent past the... More

We parked at the White Lion, from there you need to cross the road to pick up the trail. Once on the trail you soon leave any traffic noise behind. There are path markers, but they can easily be missed, we missed a couple but soon got on the right track again. Fairly steep in places, particularly on the descent,... More

Steady climb up from Patterdale to bealach leads to sublime walk to summit with ever improving views. Easy descent to Ullswater, then an interesting shoreline trail leads to Howtown and a steamer ride to Glenridding finishes a perfect half day.

The ascent to Place Fell starts off easy, then twists up a narrow (and easily missed path) to the right, where you cover almost 260m ascent in 750m - about a 1 in 3 gradient, steep going for small feet! The hills on the other side of Boredale come into view once you crown the crest leading up to Place... More

A nice gentle walk in the hills. During our visit the fell was covered in snow giving the landscape a more dramatic atmosphere. Walking May be more tricky in these conditions but it ensures the view as are amazing. The walk itself isn't hard but it is worth attempting. I would recommend this walk. Watch out for the mountain bikers.... More
