Great place
Jun. 2021 • Couples
A great place, doing great work.
It’s not a safari. So don’t come looking for elephants and hippos.
It’s a friendly place for nature lovers.

Carnivore Experience
Jun. 2021 • Couples
Visited the zoo for the the carnivore experience that we had pre booked. We had a guide called Naomi who was very friendly and knowledgable. We never felt rushed at any time and got the full experience with each of the animal encounters. We were able to feed the lemurs, fossa, snow leopards and meerkats. All the animals looked very maintained and cared for. We left the zoo feeling very lucky to be able to meet all of the animals for the price we paid. We worked out if we had gone to one of the major zoos we would of paid around £400/£500 more to experience what we did at Lakeland. Thanks again to Naomi who ensured we had a lovely afternoon :)

A great stop-off coming back from Scotland.

Difficult to say as it was all really good. Knowing that the snow leopards are part of an active breeding programme because of the level they are endangered in the wild was very impressive. The animals looked content in plenty of space. Soft spot for the stripy squirrels too!!
We got held up in traffic on the way there and rang to explain, they were so kind and helpful. Actually only 10 minutes late in the end but knowing we would get in was a relief.

Not very good

Very disappointed with this place. It looked very neglected with weeds growing everywhere. Wish we had paoid extra and gone to Blackpool zoo.

Dealt with Covid restrictions very well
May 2021
We brought our 3 year old here during a stay in the lake district. The covid restrictions meant the indoor areas were closed so the tickets were reduced and I have to say I was pleased enough with the outdoor areas, all the animals looked really well cared for and were in interesting habitats, there were nice additions for kids like the viewing bubble and sandpit next to the meerkats and the tunnel under the snow leopard. We were all really happy we'd decided to go and would recommend to other people with young children.

Fabulous day out for all ages!
May 2021
This is a fabulous place to visit for all ages. I visited twice, once with my grand-daughter and family and once with my mother. They all had the best time at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis. You can get so close to all the animals and there are so many unusual ones. I would certainly recommend this for a visit. Great value for money!

Super experience
Apr. 2021 • Couples
COVID has delayed the opening of inside exhibits so tickets are half price (excellent) and the outside exhibits are worth the visit alone. Many improvements made during lock down and this is a fabulous day out. Friendly and informative staff.
Really enjoyed the visit.

Incredible Keeper Experience
Apr. 2021 • Family
Our 9 y/o (and us big kids) absolutely loved our afternoon as keepers at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis. We got to get up close and learn about some fascinating and charming animals. The Tamarins and Meerkats were our favorites, but the bug exhibit was also amazing. Thank you Jack and Grace, we had a fabulous day and appreciate you taking all the time to answer our many questions. Such great value, it made our trip to the lakes! We'd thoroughly recommend your keeper experiences.

Great Find!
Oct. 2020 • Family
Staying nearby in Kendal and this was a great find!
Had done nothing but rain all week so as soon as we saw a break in the forecast we booked to visit and I'm glad we did. Only spent a couple of hours, so it's not a full day out, but we all enjoyed it.
From the beautiful snow leopards to the creepy crawlies- theres lots to see! Lots of info around the enclosures that was simple enough for my 9 year old to enjoy reading. Some of the animals you can really get close to, we spent ages watching the meerkats.
The layout is brilliant, even with the one way systems currently in place (there were cut throughs if you wanted another go round certain areas again without going ALL the way round, well thought out!)
Loved the overhead runs for the lemurs and the tunnel going through the leopard enclosure.
Food from the cafe was good and reasonably priced.
Only gripe was the high prices in the gift shop but this is standard across every zoo I've ever been to.
Would definitely recommend a visit if you're nearby.

Still brilliant
Oct. 2020 • Family
It is 3 years since we last came and it was even more enjoyable than last time. The kids aged 9, 11 and 14 were all fascinated by all the animals and we spent the entire afternoon there. The leafcutter ants were particularly interesting and of course the snow leopards, which we could have watched for hours. Good to see some updating going on but without making it lose its special cosy feel. Worth a mention is the food. Simple and freshly made -just the job and the friendly and caring staff. Just love this place, can’t recommend it enough for a fun and educational afternoon out.
