Decided to take a tour of the show caves Peak Cavern, the tour is suitable for all ages but I wouldn't recommend if your not keen on small spaces. The tour lasted around an hour, starting with a rope making demonstration (I helped and got to keep the rope). Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept the tour informative yet... More

Having visited Peak Cavern many years ago, we were intrigued to find out what it was like as a concert venue, having booked tickets to see Richard Hawley. It certainly is a unique experience, the acoustics are terrific. Recommend both as a showcase and a concert venue.

A big part of the reason we chose to see this cavern was the advertised rope making demonstration. This demonstration is advertised as a highlight of the tour. We were extremely disappointed to be told at the start of the tour that this will not be happening as they are setting up for a concert. I feel that this is... More

This was a good tour into an interesting cavern. Slightly miffed that the rope making didn't happen. This wasn't explained when we purchased the tickets and there was no reduction to the cost. The reason for this was that the cavern was being set up for a concert that night. As there was a sound check going on it was... More

Fantastic location for a gig. The cave is spectacular and the acoustics were great. A short walk from the village along picturesque pathways. Great little village Castleton, and the cave is a must visit

Lovely village, different experience into the caves. As the tour is mostly inside the caves, weather is not a problem and you can visit anytime of the year. Note: You may not entirely enjoy the tour if you do not have interest in caves formation, historics etc

This is a caving trip that anyone can do, well almost. If you have a wheel chair it may be a bit hard because of the steps. The floor is made of largely made of natural material so it can get a bit slippery in places. The first thing you do is get into some practical rope making which was... More

We visited over the Easter weekend and arrived just in time for the 1pm tour. Tours leave hourly on the hour and our group was quite large. It starts with a rope making demo and then you do the cave tour, about an hour in total. We found it interesting but it's not the prettiest of caves ... no stalactite... More

My Grandfather's sister Aunty Blanche and Uncle Bert Marrison lived in a tiny cottage in the main street leading up to the Cavern. Uncle Bert was the last of the old rope makers and he also had a cycle repair shop opposite his cottage. As young children my brother and sisters and myself spent many happy days in school holidays exploring...
