Yes, this is a stunning, historic church. It is also a working church serving its community, and I found huge comfort and welcome there when I visited for Thursday morning communion.

This church is not that easy to park at because of its central hemmed in location.... but there are so many other interesting historic buildings of similar interest that parking slightly afar is rewarded with views of them too. We parked the large motorhome at...More

Take a walk around and look inside the church and be at peace with the world. I would have liked to have seen the Bell ropes being used but perhaps next time. The garden at the rear of the church was also open but I...More

This sold dark-stoned old church is accessed by either of two large arched doorways and via large solid wood doors. It does have a slight musky smell to it though! Inside there are five large arches either side of the aisle supported on huge circular...More

A beautiful old church with all the history of a thousand years there to absorb. This is a perfect add on if you are visiting Melbourne Hall as it's just across the square.

This is a beautiful Norman Church. From the outside it is not that impressive, having being Gilbert Scotted and then some of his additions removed. It also does not have a traditional graveyard and is mostly rather hemmed in by buildings. However, the West doorway...More

Spent half an hour inside the church. We were particularly interested in the location of the bell ringing ropes - in between the pews and the altar. Could not find any information as to why they are in that position - albeit because of the...More

A very quiet church in a popular busy area. I liked the stone carvings inside but I was particularly drawn to the feature of the bell ringing. It would be good to return one day and see the bells in use.

Melbourne parish church is a fine example of Norman architecture in a quaint little village in Derbyshire. The church has information boards dotted around the site pointing out important areas and objects.

Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful example of English Heritage at it's best. There has been some restoration which has exposed the original Medieval art work and was incredibly peaceful and calming inside.
