Standen is a monument to the Arts & Crafts movement pioneered by William Morris. The house has been beautifully conserved, so you can see the A&C influence everywhere (furniture, curtains, wallpaper, ceramics, wood panelling, you name it). There is a children’s activity trail but it...More

Lovely day out for everybody! The grounds are big enough to spend the day just wandering looking at the stunning views while the house is packed full of treasures, not to mention the National Trust's quiz for the little ones to keep them entertained. Cafe...More

Visited when the sky was overcast but that enhanced the house and gardens in autumn colour. Plenty to see and really worth a visit

As other reviewers have said it's an excellent Arts and Crafts House and is ideal showcase for William Morris. Cafe was excellent - both the food and the location in the barn. Gardens were also looking great - lots of autumn colours / very well...More

The visit was made on a warm, dry day. The gardens are really lovely, many different areas to enjoy in different styles. The house was a delight, not overpoweringly large. helpful and interesting guides made the experience even more enjoyable.

On a sunny/dry day you could spend most of the day there. House is small but beautiful but the grounds are large with walks and ideal for a picnic. Hope that helps 😊
