We got some tickets to Birdworld and were very nicely surprised! Birds will land on you, they actually have a Cassowary, and it's a great opportunity to have a close look at this majestic animal.

Not for the faint-hearted... the birds land on you willy-nilly, and eagerly feast on the purchased birdfood that visitors take in. Our daughter LOVED it. A true interaction with natural wildlife!

A lot of birds close up free flying around and perched. Suggest buying some bird feed to increase your chance of being accosted in a good way. Better than I expected will return.

Beautiful birds who fly freely in the complex who are not afraid to land on people and especially attracted to shiny jewelry or colorful strings or straps like on bags or backpacks. I had to remove my jewelry before going in so i won’t have...More

Thanks Justsaygrace for your very positive feedback. We do make it very clear to all visitors that it is strongly advisable to remove jewellery and other items which might attract the interest of the birds.

Paid $20 entry just for 1 little room with birds in it. While the birds were lovely I was expecting a lot more for the price. Can see most of these birds for free at our local zoo.More

Thanks for your feedback Tanya. Respectfully we have a wide range of native and exotic birds in a large free flight aviary which is easily accessible in Kuranda Village. There is significant upkeep required to operate such a facility with specialised staff so we feel...More

If you’re a bird lover, you’ll get fantastic opportunities to experience close encounters at BirdWorld Kuranda. You can literally touch some of the birds without them flying away. However, experiencing these birds face to face comes with a price. These birds are kept in a...More

Firstly. These birds are all captive bred and raised, not wild so the could not and should not be in the 'wild'. This is a large aviary and there is plenty of room for them to fly freely. Almost half of these birds are not...More

We saw many birds with astonishing colours and they all (except the Cassowary) seemed happy and healthy. We had a bright yellow one proactively come to sit on our shoulder and got dived bombed a few times which was quite exciting. I was great to...More

Thanks for your positive feedback Anil and that is a good suggestion which we might be able to implement but remember the birds would chew any pen or pencil that was taken into the enclosure.

Birdworld was the second stop on my visit to Kuranda and I enjoyed seeing all the native birds. I don't engage in feeding the birds though and it was evident some visitors didn't understand bird behaviour at times. That aside, it appeared that most birds...More
