Go and visit the Granite Belt if you want a break from the hustle bustle of busy south east Qld. Stanthorpe is only an hour or so from Brisbane but a world away in feel. No traffic lights, no traffic, no stress. Great places to visit, great places to stay and eat. My escape when I haven't got time to... More

Since the Granite Belt, which is renowned for their wines and produce, is less than 3 hours from Brisbane and major centres, it's the ideal spot for a short holiday. A number of places allow 1 night stays. Explore the unusual rock formations in 2 national parks.

Stanthorpe is close to Brisbane, Toowoomba or the Gold Coast. There is stunning scenery, excellent for weekend visits. Plenty of cottage accommodation if you don't want to stay at a hotel or motel.Home of the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival that is celebrated every "even" year. Next one is March 2018. Lots of social variety - art, tourism committees, churches,... More

We visited over Christmas and loved it! So many wonderful walks and hikes to suit all levels of fitness. It was the perfect getaway from the city. The locals were very friendly and the produce was delicious. I'd highly recommend a visit!

We found that this is the best time of year to visit the Granite Belt. We avoided the shopping centres and did our Xmas shopping on the Granite Belt. There was so many things we wanted to do in our 2 days! Using the granite belt live map we had no trouble finding our way around the vineyards and knew... More

Decided to take my wife to Stanthorpe for a three night mid week Anniversary getaway (Nov 2016). Certainly well worth it. Stayed at Grovely House (perfect romantic B&B with great hostess); visited top restaurants (McGregor Tce Food Project, Annas, Granite Belt Brewery, all just brilliant); went on Granite Belt Bicycle Tours morning guided ride to Apple and Cherry orchard, cheese... Stanthorpe is a rural town on the NSW/ Queensland border. Located about 2.5hrs from Brisbane on the New England Highway it is a town that is worth checking out. We drove from Brisbane to Stanthorpe on a Friday afternoon for a weekend adventure. Like with all Queensland rural towns things close early except for the pub, the service station and... More
