Easy access down steps with a gain rail. Nice refreshing swim. Loads of jellyfish !!! A bit murky - but felt safe.

No Fish!
Jan. 2021 • Couples
Went here with my hand-line and guess what I caught? A large rope and I could not get the hook off so bye bye line. It was fun and everyone around us caught fish! He he. Nice relaxing afternoon.

Good for a cooling breeze on a hot day

A pleasant walk on the jetty at Streaky Bay. Plenty of people fishing or out for a stroll. A nice cooling ocean breeze on a hot day.

We saw dolphins
Jul. 2020
Whilst spending a week in Streaky Bay we visited this jetty almost daily. Just before sunset we saw dolphins swimming and got to take some incredible photos they came right up to the jetty. A beautiful tranquil place to visit and fish. Not much luck in the fishing department but fun all the same. Well worth the stop and walk.

One of the best

This is a great jetty. Nice to stroll and watch the sun come down. I’m sure there is good fishing. It’s close to shops and in very good condition.

Nice walk to end of jetty and back on a picturesque morning - saw some pelicans and checked out what fishermen were catching (not much)

Streaky Bay Jetty
Mar. 2020
Visited on Monday 9th March. We went for a walk on the jetty after having dinner at the pub across the road. There were a few others enjoying a stroll and some fishing, well worth checking it out for yourself.

Right in the centre of the town.

If you visit during the winter months do not expect to catch too many fish. Good fenced off swimming area that in summer the kids would love.

A Peaceful Working Jetty
Oct. 2019
Continuing a journey along the southern coast of Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, the next town to stay in is Streaky Bay. As with most coastal towns, Streaky Bay has a jetty but its peculiarity is that it is still a working jetty. Small to medium sized fishing vessels regularly calling in to unload fish and refuel.

The 300 metre wooden piered jetty was constructed between 1891 and 1896 for both the transportation of wheat from the massive wheat fields in and fishing in the bay. It also has a Jetty Pool built in 1936, near the end of the jetty.

Access to the jetty is off the main road, Alfred Terrace, with limited parking at jetty level. Fuel tanks are seen as this level as it is walking access only to the jetty. Several people were trying their luck to catch fish from the end of the jetty. Strolling along, I noticed a number of plaques either side of the jetty walkway and noted varying messages from in-memoriams including some lost at sea, to memories of times past and also in acknowledgement of donations.

There is little or no beach area at all near the jetty but there is a large covered area at the entry to the jetty that could be used for relaxation and eating.

The Streaky Bay Jetty is for fishing, just taking a relaxing stroll or accessing the Jetty Pool, and makes for a pleasant walk.

Return? If in Streaky Bay, I would surely take a stroll along the jetty again, taking in the atmosphere, relaxing and watching these fishing.

Blue Fin!
Oct. 2019
This is the jetty made famous by the film Blue Fin. Although it has changed a bit from the movie production, it still brings memories of the tuna fleet.
