This was always going to be a bit of a hit and miss tour as fairy penguin numbers are well down on what they once were on Granite Island at Victor Harbor. We were warned by the guide that we might see several or none at all as they are shy birds. Not long after starting the informative tour we... More

Very enjoyable and informative evening with Steve from the Granite Island Penguin Centre. We saw a number of penguins plus a Long Nosed Seal and Dolphins chasing fish and squid. Highly recommended and not to be missed when you are in Victor Harbor.

A fantastic and informative tour and we did see penguins :) These little guys were so cute and we excitedly watched the adult fairy penguins waddle back to their young to feed them.

We thought during the holidays we would take the kids (4&5) for a tour and spend the night in Victor. This tour was quite dissapointing only seeing one penguin arrive on the night, unfortunatly for the colony of fairy penguins there are only a few left and some nights they dont see any arrive. I think its time that they... More

The centre has closed but you can do the night time tours with the parks service. Book at the Information Centre opposite the tramway. The lovely ladies there were very helpful in booking us into the tour. The little penguins come out at night so take a very warm jacket. So cute.

Had visited this centre on a previous trip and found it to be very well run and informative. It is a shame it has now closed. You can still see the Little Penguins on Granite Island by booking an evening guided tour with the Wildlife Service, the current phone number being posted at numeorous

Unfortunately no longer running and the only way you can see penguins is on a night tour. Shame really bcos the people that worked here were dedicated. Unfortunate that penguins can thrive in metropolis of st kilda (Melbourne) but struggle in Victor harbor. Granite island isn't the same without the penguin centre

This was excellent. This was a lovely educational and conservation enterprise. Unfortunately this has closed. Granite Island’s evening penguin tours are still in operation and can be booked through Victor Harbor Information Centre.

We had a great time doing a nighttime penguin spotting tour. Our guide Graham was fantastic - he had so much knowledge about the penguins and a bunch of interesting anecdotes about his time observing the Penguins and other wildlife on granite island over the years. Given it was such a cold night we were fortunate to spot multiple penguins... More
