The Red River, which is one of the few rivers that flow north, is known for it's catfish. If you in the area, you should check out the Wahpper. Younger children would enjoy it.

I'm a fan of city's having mascots. It's really just a nice little spit to relax and take a selfie. P.S. If you have kids, it's a Pokestop.

Visited several times while my son lived in Wahpeton. Pictures with the fish in the background are the norm. The Red River is walking distance away.
