Historic site

Stop over at a historic center and rebuilt fort. Has a very informative staff at the fort tour down on the river.

Fort Mandan was built by the Lewis and Clark Expedition for only housing them the first winter. The tour of the fort was very informative. The Museum, which is very good, is where you pay for the tour so it is good to see it first. We did it in reverse but we are very familiar with the history. I... More

We thought we should visit this center to get some more information on the Lewis and Clark expedition. This is billed as an interpretative museum. But in fact, it is a little less of that and an awful lot of reading versus doing. It is interesting enough, but not completely clear how to get around in it and what order... More

Many things to see and do concerning Lewis and Clark. Great selection of books and displays. Pulled into the parking lot and my adventure began there.

We visited here prior to going to Fort Mandan and it gave us an excellent insight into Lewis & Clark, their assigned mission, their plans and preparations and what they took with them etc. Everything is very thoughtfully and clearly displayed and this is one of the very best such centres I have visited. There is an interesting shop here,... More

Very informative location. Very nice exhibits. It was really small and most of the information was about Fort Mandan.

The Statute out front is probably the most impressive part of this museum. They do have artifacts but behind glass and a few audio sound bites but mostly there are signs to read.

Although the Lewis & Clark & Corps of Discovery section was interesting, we found it disappointing in content. There was little there; it was relegated to a very small part of the rather large building! An entire rather large section seemed devoted to the history of agriculture in the Plains, or something along those lines, which seemed out of place... More

All of the many Lewis and Clark museums tell the same story, with a slightly different geographic emphasis. This center did a nice job in presenting the basics, but was not exceptional in any way -- except that the ticket also includes Fort Mandan.

Excellent place to bring the entire family. Educational, excellent displays that take you back in time to the days of Lewis and Clark. Also fun and interactive for children. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to answer questions. You will love it.
