We went to see ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Naked Classics: Beethoven 5. It was a great show and the acoustics in this theater are great. It was open seating and we had no issues finding a seat on our own. We sat on the main level...More

Visited this Theater this weekend, all of the staff was extremely helpful and professional. The theater itself is beautiful, the seats were very comfortable and roomy which was nice not rubbing shoulders and elbows with the person sitting beside you. The sound acoustics and lighting...More

The Southern Theatre is by far my favorite venue in the Columbus Ohio area for live music. One often hears the phrase, "there is not a bad seat in the house." This is more true at the Southern than any other theater anywhere in the...More

The Southern is one of Columbus' Grand Dames. Stunning pretty and acoustically pure. The building itself has been restored to its glory -- with ample nearby parking. On event nights, Columbus Police help patrons across the street and there are plenty of nearby eateries and...More

Was there on a Tuesday night for an excellent John Hiatt concert. Beautiful theater. I think it’s from the 1800’s. Fell into disrepair and was lovingly restored. Great acoustics! Everyone working/volunteering there is friendly and helpful. I’ve loved a couple shows here but forgot how...More

Nestled amongst the numerous modern buildings in downtown Columbus is the Southern Theater, home of Opera Columbus Opera. In Columbus Ohio? That's what I thought too. I have always wanted to attend a live opera, but always thought I'd have to go to New York...More

I have attended many operas at the Southern Theater, most recently "La Traviata". The space is intimate, acoustics fantastic. The main floor places the audience member as if they are mingled with the performers. The seats are comfortable and the view from ceiling to floor...More

The theater is just beautiful. Since it was built for musical performances, the acoustics are superb. It is smaller and more intimate than the Ohio Theater. You will enjoy it.

We went to the Southern Theater last night to watch the Columbus Jazz Orchestra play. What an amazing venue! We sat in the second balcony and the sound was terrific. Word to the wise, if you are afraid of heights, you may want lower seats-...More

There is a restaurant in the hotel which is the same building. Or, if you are adventurous, close by is a hotdog emporium that is the cat's meow, Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace at 248 S. 4th Street.
