The Warther Museum is home of the world famous woodcarvings of steam engines by Ernest Mooney Warther carved out of ivory, ebony, and walnut. Mrs. Warther's button collection numbers over 73,000 buttons in patterns, and her Swiss style gardens still bloom seasonally to this day. The Warther Museum is more than you can imagine as you see what two people created in just one lifetime.

We were blown away by the beautiful carvings on displays. His train models with working parts are simply amazing. It's fascinating to view how he progressed from simple carvings from cheaper materials to the most intricate, made from ebony and ivory. The button and arrowhead...More

Wonderful displays of Mooney Warther's lifetime of work. The tree made from 1 piece of wood carved into pliers was amazing!

It was a treat to see Mr. Warther's amazing carvings. I imagine his brain was just like the great composers of old, he just "saw" the finished product in his head, and his hands produced it. You have to wonder if he was relaxed as...More

Anytime we visit Dover, we always stop in here to get our knives sharpened and to add to our collection. Best knives by far!

Although the guided tour lasts approximately one hour, you can also tour Warthers home, his wife's button house and the gardens. The tour moved along at a fairly good pace (not unreasonably so). Once the guide was done... More
