Me and some of my friends decided to walk to the top.. Its a nice ascend with shady roads leading to the top. Once reaching on top we stayed there until the sun setting above the Guwahati skyline. Amazing view was it.

We had visited this unique temple dedicated to the nine planets during our sightseeing in Guwahati. A unique temple, with all the Graha pujas done under one roof. situated on a hilltop, it gives a good view of the city as well. It is supposed to be built during the rule of kings in Assam.

This temple is dedicated to all the nine planets Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Chevaai/Mangal (Mars), Budhan (Mercury), Guru/Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (Head of Demon Snake) and Ketu (Tail of Demon Snake). This is located on the top of Navagraha Hill in Guwahati. This temple is dedicated to the Nine heavenly planets. This temple was built in early 19th Century by Ahom King Rajeswar Singha. Each of nine celestial body is represented in the temple by a shivalingam. Each shivalingam is covered with cloth and represents one of the nine planet.

The temple is located over Chitrasal Hill. In olden days Assam used to be called as Pragjyotishpura meaning city of eastern light or city of eastern astrology. Navgraha temple or the temple of 9 Planet is a hindu temple located on the steep Navgraha hill in guwahati. The temple is pitch dark with only small diyas light. There are 9 shivlings representing the 9 planet's of our solar system .
