Had a very close look at of lots of irrawaddy dolphin. It was a 3 hours tours on boat. You can also see the muhana the place where chilka opens to the bay of bengal. Its magnificent view.

This site can be accessed from several points. The most visited and popular points are Satapada in Puri District, Balugaon in Khurdha District. There are both govt sponsored boat agencies along with private agencies. Both are friendly and will take you to the different places and sites in the lake. Most travel agents suggest the easy trip to Lake Chilika in a noisy motor boat and show the dolphins. Avoid such a trip. The motor boats goad the dolphins and mistreat them.
