This is located 15 km away from Chennai - Tirchy highway. Take right at Kolambakkam while coming from chennai. Very Beautiful bird Sanctuary with lot of birds flying around. Tower is arranged inside the sanctuary for visitors. Maintenance and cleanness is very very nice.

Reached there at 7:45 am on a saturday morning.. apart from a few school kids screaming around (they were on an excursion trip)... spent about 4 hours just mesmerized by Grey Pelicans, Eurasian Spoonbills, Darters catching fish, Cormorants, king fishers, paradise flycatchers etc... lovely place....More

Even though the migratory season is coming to an end we got see good numbers of birds.we enjoyed the singing and chirping noise thoroughly. Forest department has done a lot of improvement.Kudos

Yes it will be opened in September and through out the year.The period between April to June is really hot and you do not see much birds.Between July to October is the period when monsoon is good and you can see birds start... More

Early Morning is better or late afternoon, as any of the birds leave to feed etc as the day goes on. We were there at 7.30am. By 10am the birds were starting to fly off.
