It's a privilege to be able to go onto Skellig Michael considering that tours are regularly cancelled due to rough seas and only around 120 people are allowed to go on any one day. We, like so many were unable to get onto a boat from Portmagee and our good fortune let us find Johns Tour. The only negative is... More

I took a risk trying to do a Skellig tour last minute. I did check the main site at Portmagee and, as expected, all time slots were sold out. Thankfully, I stumbled across John O'Shea, and seeing that he left out of Caherdaniel/Derrynane harbor, I thought I would give a shot at getting a last minute seat. I managed to... More

Loved our trip from the beautiful location of the pier to Skellig on a sunny calm morning. John O'Shea the skipper made the trip. My little girl was in the wheelhouse on the way over while he made ginger tea for my other girl. They were delighted by his pet dogs. Passing Little Skellig John must have the dolphins trained... Trip to Skellig from Caherdaniel with John O' Shea - absolutely brilliant. Skellig Michael is special and as the guides say 'unique' - you need to visit to understand - to see so much nature around you truly special. For me four hours out at sea in the boat was the highlight. John is very attentive (he also has raingear... More

The boat trip to Skellig Michael was the highlight of our Kerry tour. Little Adventure, unique culture, breathtaking landscape and views, hundred thousand of birds, all in one trip: super! Our captain John O Shea took us safe to the island and back. We appreciated his skillfulness and his friendliness. The delicious freshly caught and fried fish on the way... More

First of all, Skelligs should be on all highlights list of Ireland, it is a definite must see attraction, and we are so glad we did it. We got a chance to feel the ocean(after all, we are on the island), to climb up the Skellig Michael to the ancient monastic settlement, hang out with adorable puffins, listen to the... More

Saw someone's review about upset they were about the length of the boat trip: my only thing to that is, duh? Skellig rock isn't exactly close and if a boat breaks down, can't really expect that to happen so your luck just sucks. Get over it, they can't discount a trip because something bad happens. As for my trip, it... More

The day started off fine, arrived at the pier around 9.15, had agreed a time of 9.30 with John originally but he texted me around 6am to say boat was leaving at 9am, luckily I was awake so told him we would make it as close to 9 as possible. About a half an hour into our journey it was... More

What a day! What an experience - lovely day out at sea, heading to the Rock. Bird life busy bringing back nesting materials, others with feeding for their young. Due to the sea swell, there were just a few porposes but no visible dolphins. Busy puffins & gannets & young shear waters resting just off the rock. Thankfully the wind... More

Paul & his son charmed us from the offset. Sea conditions were perfect. No one suffered any sea sickness. We saw a Minke Whale just metres from L'Oursin, our comfortable boat. What other tour serves up Mackerel on the way home, which they've caught while waiting for you while are visiting Skellig Michael?!?!? Legends. Highly recommend this tour. The boat... More
