The Kirke/Church is up the hill over looking Longyearbyen. Been here twice on two visits. Very peaceful. Take your shoes off before entering the church.

At this time of the year, in Svalbard is 24 hours complete darkness. This northernmost church, in the northernmost city, regardless of how cold and dark outside it is, brings calm, warmth and unity. A visit to the church, enhance the feeling that Longyearbyen is...More

This is a cosy church with lounge area and good views over the whole town. You can buy souvenirs, books, lovely Svalbard calendars etc or have tea/coffee and biscuits whilst here. A real (dead!) polar bear also on exhibition

We visited here twice and the last time for the Sunday service. It was lovely and we felt included. The pastor made a point of visiting with everyone who came. The offer coffee and cake after the service. Beautiful view from church towards fjiord.

The church itself isn't the most amazing - if it wasn't for its location, it wouldn't be getting all these five star reviews ! But there's something enjoyable about visiting a church right up here. Unlike the church in Grytviken (at the other end of...More

Very pleasant church, and nice to visit the north most church in the world ;) The structure itself is quite modest from the inside but, surprisingly enough, unlike many places in town, it has a free good Wifi. Also a comfortable lounge with option for...More
