Britain gave steam trains to the world and why the appeal is still massive became clear to me and my friends when we boarded a steam train at Sheringham's Station Approach. The station is the location for an annual beer festival and also the celebrated Forties Weekend. We were so impressed last year with the work that had gone into... More

Staying at the local YHA, we were first to buy tickets on the Saturday morning, and glad that we did as by the time we got to the end of the line there were queues for the return journey and Sheringham station was packed. A lovely restoration of a working train station and there were two engines on show that... More

We travelled on this delightful heritage railway and enjoyed the experience. However we made one mistake - we travelled from Sheringham to Holt and back. If rail enthusiasts want to enjoy this route and have no reason to leave from Sheringham I suggest they don't. The station at Holt is 1.25 miles from Holt so unless you want to walk... More

We had a great day, 4 adults and 1 three year old. Everyone was very friendly and when we finished had a great sandwich and portion of cheesy chips! Well worth a visit!

Been meaning to write a review of this preserved line for some time. Really only one word to describe it - superb! Wonderful atmosphere, great locos and rolling stock, friendly people, reasonable prices and all the facilities one might require. Highly recommended. I will be going again soon.

Visited with a two year old who is a great fan of railways! The return journey from Sherringham to Holt at around 75 minutes was ideal. Staff friendly and no issues with the trip. The play carriage at Sherringham station was a great addiction . We even went back later in the day to see the steam train come back... More

So I must start by saying I enjoy attractions such as this and so regularly go to places such as this. The north Norfolk railway is excellent for several reasons, particularly if you enjoy walks. The railway itself is very good, has a mixture of steam and diesel engines across a few stations and really takes you back. Staff are... More

We parked at Holt station (£1 parking charge for full day) and bought two adult returns to Sheringham, which came to about £25. 4 yr old was free. This seemed expensive, but the journey was lovely, in very well-maintained carriages, which were evocative of bygone times! The coastal scenery was wonderful and the staff were very friendly. We were able... More

This is a well managed line, the facilities are clean and well maintained. The coaches are also clean comfortable and well maintained. It's worth spending a bit of time at each station as there's something to see at them all. Weybourne is where the engine shed is. Only let down is the shop which has very little for the enthusiast.
