Sitting in the grounds of Berkeley Castle St Mary's church is a lovely parish church. Surrounded by beautiful trees, it has played host to several monarchs of the realm who have prayed here and is the burial place for several earls countesses.

This church is next to Berkeley Castle although is not part of the official tour. The church is free to look around (of course) and is a lovely Grade 1 listed building with Saxon and Norman history.

The grave of the jester killed in Berkeley Castle is just one of the impressive table tombs in the grave yard here. There are wall paintings and wonderful carvings. Unfortunately it is not possible to view the Berkeley tombs in the church.

While this is nothing great to look at from the outside, due to the very bad repair works, the inside is an absolute gem and very well worth a visit. The lighting is not great, but once you have accustomed your eyes to the light...More

After sadly seeing very little of the Kings cell in the castle, a visit to Jenner's Museum and St. Mary's made the trip worth while. Lovely architecture inside and out, with painted walls peeling. Met a lady cleaning the Brass and got a potted history....More

You can actually see the very old paint on the walls not removed & totally white washed by the Victorian's. A few interesting tombs, worth a visit if you have a spare half an hour. The Church is situated behind the Butterfly Farm at the...More

Country churches usually have something to offer, and this was no exception - not least because the tower is some way from the body of the church. The tombs are impressive, as is the glass, but don't miss the (restored) wall-paintings and rood screen. And...More

Just a short walk from the Dr Edward Jenner museum, grade 1 listed with lots of stained glass windows and some medieval wall paintings. You can just imagine the church in days of old with the inhabitants of the castle next door frequenting the building....More

Beautiful little church next to Berkeley castle. Many old graves in the churchyard, it us a beautiful, peaceful place with many recurring names. At that time I was researching war memorials in the area for my own interest and found this, like many small churches...More

I don't think they have a toilet on site as it is a Church and listed building, but there are toilet facilities a 2 minute walk away at the cafe in Berkeley Castle grounds of which the two sites are connected
