This beautiful looking house is situated in a great position overlooking the River Test, not far from the attractive village of Stockbridge. The walled garden is a great place to stroll and is a working garden, so there are plenty of fruit and veg growing...More

So pleased you had a happy time here today. Actually the grounds are sufficiently extensive that all visitors experience a feeling of "space" even when we are less unbusy than we were today. Houghton Lodge is different to many open gardens in so much as...More

A mid week delight. A peaceful oasis away from hustle. Superb 40 minute stroll around the "grounds" including alongside the River Test. Excellent paper guide provided. Learnt loads about fruit growing. Lovely gardens and brilliant coffee / cakes from the café with outside seating.

I am pleased you enjoyed the gardens Yes, indeed, a lot of money has been invested. Visitors are welcome to picnic in the car park but we discourage picnicking elsewhere . It is not fair on the tea room and we have had litter problems...More

Whilst I am pleased you enjoyed the gardens I am disappointed you did not enjoy the tea room. I have referred this to Honesty , who run it,, It is bad as we suffer reputational damage from its shortcomings
