Buckles Hard, located on the Beaulieu river has a very long history dating back to building boats for Lord Nelsons fleet used in the Battle of Trafalgar. The Master Builders House hotel is ideally situated on the river front and is beautifully maintained and has extensive gardens and outdoor areas. The adjoining Musuem provides a wealth of information on the... More

Interesting for it's history, with lovely views. You can have lunch / stop for a drink, visit the museum, take a boat trip or just enjoy a walk to here from Beaulieu and then relax.

We are in the New Forest area for a week, staying at Lymington. Looking for something to do today we randomly stuck a pin in the map and came up with Buckler's Hard (no sniggering, please). It is what remains of a village which was a hive of industry in the late 18th/early 19th century. The industry in question was... More

I had never heard of this place until i visited Beaulieu. It is one of the most interesting places I have been to. So much history that dates back centuries. Being alongside the river is an added bonus. Peaceful and tranquil. The museum is well worth a visit. It tells you everything you want to know. Lovely pub and cafe... More

Ideal for a day out. Plenty of parking, museum and cafe. Lovely position on river and sometimes there is a boat giving trips along the river. Nice area to walk around and some houses can be visited. Enjoy a drink and sandwich in the old pub .

Wifey and I visited here on a bright Saturday morning, just when it opened. Large car park. Upon entry, the café is on the right, beyond that is the ticket booth. After purchasing our tickets, we went back to the café to look at some leaflets over a cuppa. We decided to do the boat tour first (for an additional... More

This is a lovely setting you can walk around the buildings. Enjoy a drink in the pub, have a ice cream and go on the river cruise. The Gypsy Moth is in the harbour for everyone to see. All worth doing!
