Visited the The Old Battery on a glorious summer's day. 20 minute walk from Alum Bay car park (£5 or free to National Trust members.) There is an entrance fee so there again makes NT membership worthwhile. Interesting small cafe in the wartime signal station....More

Good fun and a great way to find out lots about the history of the isle of wight. One of the best views from land of the needles themselves. Nice little tea room.

Can be a windy experience on the edge of a cliff. This site is in two sections and show a untold story of the missile launching station by the needles. There are cannon emplacements dating before the 2nd world war. A tunnel takes you to...More

We have heard of the great view of the Needles from the Battery. However we are in our 80s and not very mobile. How close can we park, and how far would we need to walk? Will the Battery be open on 16th/ 17th February?
