This windmill was built c. 1760 & was used to grind wheat, oats & barley thus producing flour & animal feed. A steam engine was installed in 1889 to drive the mill when there wasn't any wind. This venue is well laid out with fascinating exhibits from years gone by. It surprised us that it seemed very clean & not... More

We really enjoyed our trip to White Mill today. The windmill and its internal workings were fascinating, but the other buildings at the base filled with all manner of historical farming equipment were an unexpected bonus. Great value for money.

We visited on a slightly damp and windy Bank Holiday Monday with our young children. We had a very warm welcome from the volunteers and the children loved discovering the millers cottage and the windmill. There is just so much to see. Climbing up to the top of the windmill was definitely the highlight.

Recently visited with my girlfriend. I was immediately impressed by the friendly and knowledgeable volunteer who gave us a brief overview of the museum and its exhibits before allowing us to make our own way around. The variety of exhibits is impressive and they detail not only the milling process but also offer an insight into the life of the... More

We arrived just before opening time on a Sunday morning and just as we drove into the parking area there it stood, this lovely windmill. We met one of the volunteers (Neil, a very nice guy) who kindly let us in and gave us a map & my youngest a quiz to do as she walked around (The prize she got... More

What an amazing place; there is so much more to see once you go through the door; the original millers cottage which he shared with his wife and 14 children - where did they all fit? It's a great place for families to go and learn about how we used to live and the older generation to reminisce. No tech... More

If you have never been to a 'real' windmill then go to this one, it's really impressive. It hasn't been 'gentrified', it has been restored sympathetically with all the mill machinery in full view. The mill isn't used now but I was told there are plans to make it do so in the future. Would be lovely to see. The... More

Staying in the area decided to pop in Ian do have a look. Was not disappointed. Run by volunteers it was a most interesting hour spent looking around this old windmill with plenty to see. Look out for it as it's not particularly well signposted but worth the £3 visit

Have driven past many times and eventually decided to take a look inside. Well, what a surprising place - much larger a place than you envisage and it is also a place that time has forgotten - great displays and lots of buildings around the mill which show you exactly what living at a mill was like. Excellent value for... More

Turned up on Tuesday 19 August, nobody there, no notices to explain why it wasn't open. Waited until 10.10am then left with disappointed kids!
