DAD says...OK there isn't that much here. It is a ruined castle but nevertheless the scale of the buildings is impressive and the helpful audio guide and signposts help you to imagine what it must have been like. Parking isn't really a problem. The car park at the castle is for disabled visitors only while there seemed to be plenty... More

Ashby castle is a good half day out. There is something for everyone and would recommend going on a sunny day. Also keep an eye out for their events, reenactments and outdoor theatre all add to the magic of the grand history.

We had never been to see the castle before, and whilst visiting the town we decided to give it a go. Well sign posted to find. The road to the car park is quite bumpy and stony though! Although closed when we visited, pleasant views and tranquil atmosphere.

We visited when the castle was closed but could still explore quite a bit of it. It was incredible! Although most of it lies in ruin, the location right on the cliffside with the waves crashing into the bay creates a castle well worth visiting. There are plenty of information signs to read along the way to keep informed. Just... More

Lovely ruins with lots of open space and gives a real sense of history. Kids love it and the town centre is a short walk away with lots of cafes and traditional pubs.

This place is not only gorgeous in its broken state but also full of history. Highly recommended for people with a love for the old and mysterious.
